Stamina Building Exercises

I go to the Law Enforcement Training Academy March 14, and am wondering the best way to be prepared for the Fitness Portion of the Academy. Here are the requirements:

I have already been walking 3.5 miles a day, but really need to up my endurance so that I can mee the requirements, and no matter how hard I try I am not doing the push ups correctly... any advice will be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance...
