Share your best advice

I started a thread like this a couple of years ago, but I sure can't find it now.

If you were coaching a friend who had just begun her/his weight loss journey, what are the 3-5 things you would tell them are the most important to keep in mind?

Mine are:
1. Drink plenty of water
2. Log everything you eat
3. Keep increasing your exercise

These are pretty basic, but I bet some of you have some really original ideas.
