Do you need an "aha" moment to lose weight?

I have been struggling with my weight for the last few years and no matter what I try, I just don't seem to "get it".
Do you have to come to a point in your life to make the commitment? Maybe I'm not ready from a mental standpoint. I have no health issues for doctors to order me to lose weight. I have dieting on the brain 24/7 and seem to be obsessed with it and the fact that I need to lose weight. What will it take to get past the hump? I need to stop talking about it and start doing it, but I can't seem to do that. Any suggestions?
