New runner - Bad pain in back of thighs?

Hi All,

I've just joined a Gym and started running, I'm 22 years old and 15 1/2 stone.

I must admit this is the most exercise I've done in years and been concentrating mon my studies ore than working out for the past few years.

I can walk fine but as soon as I start to jog or run I get a really bad pain in both of the back of my thighs which can only be descrbed as a stabbing pain if that makes sence?

I was just wondering if this is nornal for a person who hasnt worked out for a while, I am overweight but wanting to lose weight.

Is there anything I could take to stop the pain or something which would ease the pain while running and working out?
