small victory this morning

small victory: i had a lousy night last night (fight with my boyfriend of almost 4 years). i left my apartment without breakfast or my daily homemade latte, and walking to work, i was feeling sorry for myself and thinking i deserved a little treat. bagel with egg and cheese sounded *great* and like it would settle my nervous stomatch.

but then i thought about how 400 calories of empty carbohydrates would look and feel in retrospect. it would really limit what i should be eating the rest of the day, or, more likely, cause me to declare today a pity day and fall off course. neither of which would make me feel good in the long run.

instead, i bought myself a banana and some cottage cheese, and treated myself to an expensive gigantic iced skim mik latte.

it's not like it was so hard, or a great sacrifice...the victory was more in that i am really changing the way i am thinking about food, and as a result, making more informed (and generally better) choices. it's not like i was eating egg-and-cheese bagels frequently a few months ago, but on a day like today, i definitely would have gotten one without a thought to how it would affect me later.

so a mini-bright spot today for me. :)
