Finishing Meals ??? ...
what do the rest of you do with regards to the calories/points you have counted about food you don't finish?
Do you reduce the amount of points/calories you track? and if so, how do you calculate that?
If you don't reduce what you are counting do you ever find your self tempted to eat something and not count it b/c you know you didn't eat all that you counted at a meal?
I count points and I always calculate the points before I eat the meal/snack but I am also really working on not forcing myself to finish the food on my plate "just because". Leaving left-overs is a new concept for me LOL so I'm not sure if I should be removing the uneaten points from my log or if I should just leave them there and consider that part of reducing my intake?
thoughts? ideas?

Leave them--if you start trying to remove points or eat to make up for them it will not be accurate and you will probably end up intaking more than you think. Work on finding meals that contain the right amount of food for you.

I agree, though should take my own advice! I have a tendency to eat more at another time, feeling like I have some leeway because I didn't finish earlier. So my suggestion would be to just chalk it up to overall caloric reduction. Hmm, I realay should try that....Good luck!

My vote is to remove them. Only have the points you eat, so you only see that number and you know you're on your way to that goal.

Hi OP, i had a similar problem when i counted points. i would measure out a serving and tell myself "it's 4 points" and then i would eat the whole thing just because that was the "serving size"; i wasn't paying attention to if i was actually hungry or not. here's what i did:
1. i started counting points to the half. so if i did measure out a serving of something that was 4pts, and didn't end up eating it, i would estimate how much i did eat and count what i did eat, like 3.5 pts.
2. i also started halving the serving size. if somethng was a half-cup, then i would measure out a quarter cup. that kept me from eating more than i needed just because i already measure out a serving size/ figured the poiints

I agree with you 8.58.
Remove them. Don't put points down on food you have not eaten. Don't put as much food on your plate and give yourself a smaller portion and eat something later on with your left over points.

To the PPs: It is a good idea ti start with smaller portion sizes, but I think there is something to be said for 'learning' to leave food on you plate. This skill can help at resturants, friends homes, when you go out to eat, etc. It's important to learn how to handle that, too.
