Wii Fit Rocks!
My wife brought home a Wii Fit, and I was not going to be impressed. It was alittle cutesy, and was way too cheap to be useful. I was so wrong. That little things is really cool. Don't get me wrong, there are a number of lame exercises in there, but there are bound to be, when there are over 30 to start with, and then tons more, once you get enough Wii Fit Credits to open them up.
I love the daily fit test. I will not let my character gain a single gram between days, because I want to see that chart line trend down to my goal. Also, I would never pay someone to teach me Yoga, so that I feel like a fool in front of total strangers. This thing takes you through breathing, stretching, etc, and you know what? I feel better, and more relaxed. You will not be able to throw away your running shoes, but this thing is a bargain at $89, just for the weight/BMI tracking and the Yoga moves.
Mind you, the Wii does not really care about your feelings. It might be cute, but it will tell you with no uncertain terms that you are overweight or even OBESE! It will even make your Mii character as big as you are! It also has no problem telling you that your Wii Fit age is 10 years older than you really are! It knows your age, but it still will tell you where your physical abilities lie.
This thing is a great tool. No matter what diet you are on, or what your activity level, this thing will inspire you to make your Mii smaller, and to beat the scale day after day!
Go get one, and let me know what you think!

I love mine, I finally opened up the "zen" at the end of the balancing games, it is pretty fun.
Love it

I want one! Thanks, OP!

Yes - I hadn't really heard from anyone who has used one. That does sound like the type of motivation I tend to respond to. Appreciate the perspective!

I've going back and forth on getting a Wii. Don;t really have the $$, but with the stimulus check... kinda could swing it. The Fit it the main reason I want it (kids will love it for others, of course!) Any thoughts on if it's worth it? Do they have other fitness games?

They have other games your kids will love ( as it is a primarily family based system) and with the Wii Fit there will be other games coming out for it, such as Wii Ski, and they are talking about a whole fitness video type game series for it.

I would just like to caution users with kids....
My 7 yr old bawled his eyes out when the Wii called him fat. He is not fat - he is a gymnast for God sakes. It's hard to reason with a 7 yr old that BMI measurements are not accurate when it comes to athletic people. I doubt the BMI measurement are accurate when it comes to kids in general.
Someone gave me a good idea so that we don't run into the problem with the kids again - put their height in there as a few inches taller than what they really are. We don't really want the kids to be concerned about their weight and BMI anyway - it's about having fun with the game and getting up and moving.

I just ordered my Wii yesterday! It should be here within a week! I'm so excited and I'm definitely going to get the Wii Fit!

When you are setting it up, it clearly states that the BMI is not accurate for anyone who is under 13, so I would totally skip that part for children.

Is there a way to turn the BMI portion off for kids?
Neither of my kids is overweight in the least but both my kids are HEAVY like they have lead in their bones and everyone is always surprised by how much they weigh! It would devastate my 8 y.o. DD if the Wii called her fat and I don't know if any amount of talking would get her through that for a LONG time.
I love our Wii - the brain age academy is a great family game - but I will be thoroughly unimpressed if the new Wii fit games calls my kids fat!!!!!!!!

4:10 pm poster here that has the 7 yr old that bawled about his BMI....
We didn't see away to skip the BMI portion. If you figure out how to skip it please share!!!

Do you need to also get the Wii mat, or can you use your own yoga mat? I'd like to get the Wii Fit, but wasn't sure if it was worth the money, or just a fun, cutesy way to work out. I want something serious. Glad to see that it's more of what I'm looking for. Does it also have exersizes for more advanced people, or does everyone start out at the same pace? TIA!

The wii fit is sold out everywhere!!!
Monday, June 2, 2008, 9:20 AM
Okay. We finally got the fit yesterday! We love it! I was a little nervous that it wouldn't be challenging enough, but it definitely is! Yesterday, I did 40 minutes, today I did 50, and I can really feel my muscles working! We stood in line outside Best Buy for 25 minutes in the blazing heat to get this, but it's so worth it!
And, it made me feel so much more confident about my body! I'm in the normal BMI range, and normal weight range. And I'm only 2 years "older" physically than I am in real time. Not as out of shape as I thought! ...But I'm going to be working on getting younger!
How's everyone else doing with theirs?
