I am so tired...

of media distillations of health issues. There is no single change or magic bullet to lose weight/improve health. American style fat-free eating is often full of sugars and chemicals (check out the ingredients on that fat free yogurt); there were no parameters on other factors in this study to control this. Reducing most fats in the context of an eating a balanced diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy fats in moderation and high quality proteins will improve your health; I don't think anyone here would dispute that.

The other week they were dismissing soy. Next week it will be something else. The media treats food and nutrients like celebrities-they build something up, exagerate claims, only to bash it later.
And the nutrition industry mines this process for every dollar it can.

To the previous poster - right on! And sadly, that is the reason why, as much as I'd love to see a professional nutritionist/dietitian, I won't. Enquiries have only proven that they have their own set of beliefs about food, and they just transfer them to you...if I wanted to focus on anti-oxidants or blood-type or raw lifefood, I'd buy a book and take it from there. So in the meantime I'll count my calories and try to get over my reliance on convenience foods.

How sad is it that we can't rely on our doctors or the New York Times or academia to give us the information we need...they all have their own agendas.
