OT - acne scars

I don't have too horrible skin, though not really great either, a few pimples or zits every month. However, the zits and pimples always leave scars and even years after they're still there! Is there anyway to remove them without laser surgery or expensive creams/gels/whatever?

If you use a face cream or lotion with Alpha Hydroxy Acid in it, it will fade the scars over time (or it has for me, using it every night. I started seeing a difference after maybe a month ). 8% is best, but if you can't find anything with 8% then get something no lower than 4%. It shouldn't cost that much. I use Kiss My Face, which I got from the local drugstore here and it was $7. You can find something comparable at yours or at Ulta, if you have one of those nearby.

I know Avon & Neutrogena sell "microdermabrasion" products, but I've never tried them. It might be worth the small investment to see a dermatologist for the recurring pimples and to see what they have to offer for getting rid of the scars.

I have the same problem. My birth control has all but stopped my breakouts, but I have some pretty bad discoloration and scarring. My dermatologist suggested I try Mederma (a facial cream) before I try any other methods. It was $30 for a large tube at my local drug store. I am supposed to start seeing results in a couple of months. I've been using it for a couple weeks. I'll let you know if I start seeing results.

Proactiv makes a special cream for it. I have not tried it, but I do love their line.

Chemical peels. I think Neutrogena has one you can buy in stores. It's not as good as what the dermatologist does but it will help.

Origins- Dr. Wei's Mushroom Face SErum

I have also had problems with discoloration. Go to an Origin's location (Macy's too) and ask for a sample of the Dr. Weil's Face Serum. My skin has never been this clear. Its VERY expensive and so far I still have a lot fo the sample left but when it runs out I'm definitely going to by it. I've been using it for two weeks and my complexion is AMAZING! BTW I tried Proactive and that dried my skin out. Im 28 so I've been dealing with acne for quite some time.
