Help me organize my "goals"
Hi all! First post, be gentle with me!
A little about me: I am a 35 year old, married, mother of 3. I am 5' 9" and weight 240 lbs. I am striving to lose 50 lbs, then reassess my health/quality of life and possibly attempt 20 more, getting me to my "goal" weight of 170. I know this will take some time.
I found peertrainer over the weekend, and proceeded to create a list of goals before I joined. The list is:
*Get to bed by 9:30
*Quit (or drastically reduce) alchohol for 30 days
*Quit (or drastically reduce) coffee for 30 days
*Exercise 30-45 min per day, take Sundays off
*Drastically reduce time at computer
*Stop eating by 7:30
The reason I took on so many goals at once is because I have so many health issues I'd like to address, including:
* bad GERD
* borderline heigh (130/80) blood pressure
* assumed high cholesterol
* assumed out of whack sugar levels
* joint/feet/back pain
And I have been so miserable lately, I want to feel better NOW. I know, that sounds impatient and unrealistic, but I am just trying to describe my current mindset. I have sort of hit "rock bottom" with my weight control issues. I feel worse than I have in my entire life, and depression is getting a stronghold on me.
My goal list is in no particular order, but I am having a hard time doing them all at once. Yesterday went OK, but I am feeling the burn-out setting in already on day two. My two most difficult so far are quitting coffee and reducing time at computer. Later in the week, my desire to drink will kick in also.
Do these changes look like too many at once? My "diet" of choice (using "diet" to simply mean way of eating) is the American Diabetic Association recommendation of 35 carbs at breakfast, 15 for snacks, and 45 for lunch and dinner. Along with lowered fat and "good" fat, and more whole grains and fruits and veggies.
I would love some constructive criticism and encouragement.
