Nutritional Info Displayed
An independent coffee shop by my house has decided to display the nutritional info for (most) of their pastries. I just thought this was such a great idea. With the bigger chains, you can check the website, but you can never tell with indie places.
Just wanted to share and see if anyone else has seen a similar practice with independent restaurants.

It's great to see that kind of responsiveness to their customers' obviously frequent enquiries. I imagine they have some decent choices on their menu, otherwise it would hurt their business. A lot of us wouldn't knowingly eat a 600-calories pastry, but would happily play mental tricks to classify it as a 300-calorie pastry and eat it in the absence of concrete info like that. And didn't I hear that Starbucks is adding a "skinny cappuccino" or something along those lines to its menu? It's about time!

I think it is a GREAT idea and think more places should follow suit. I recently emailed a chain to ask for a list of their nutritional info and they said they were working on it, but it is not currently available.

RE: 1:28pm - God Hates Vegans/Vegans Hate God. (I'm being facetious here, don't have an aneurism)
"I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be food for you. And to the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food. And it was so" (Genesis 1:29-30).
It was not until man was consumed by sin that God gave man permission to use the flesh of His creatures. Maybe He lost faith in our ability to live compassionately and coexist with the animals. God has given us permission to consume flesh and to instill 'fear and dread..upon all of the beasts of the earth' Genesis 9:1-3. However, He never says that by abstaining from the flesh of His creatures we are saying He is wrong, or we are smarter than Him. God has always given us a choice. I choose to live in harmony with Gods creatures rather than destroy them. I'll leave the fear, dread, and destruction to Satan.

Any Starbucks drink that is labeled 'skinny' is simply a drink made with non-fat milk. It's not a miracle, no-cal, fat free, guilt free pleasure. It's just a drink made with non-fat milk.

Well duh. But the media made a little fuss about Starbucks caving into the trend. I thought it was kinda funny.

Speaking of Starbucks - they had this cute sign in their store touting a Skinny Snack Combo. It was a Skinny Latte paired with a low-fat pastry. You know that sucker still had hundreds of calories; pair that with a minimum of 90 calories for the drink - that's one whopper of a snack. Might as well get a whopper.
Kudos to that coffee shop! And 4:51 is right - no matter how well versed we are on calories - it's so easy to play those mental tricks and underestimate what we're really eating.
