Daily Gratitudes...
Today something happened that just made me want to start a daily thread to say "Thank you, God." This is my way of expressing gratitude for the little things that make my day extraordinary. Please feel free to add your own. Religion or spiritual beliefs aside, we all have something we can be grateful for everyday...
Today I am grateful for the kindness of strangers. A man helped me out in a moment of need today when he could have just closed the door on my face and said no. I will always be thankful for him and for being so kind to me...

Naps
I am thankful for the regenerating power of naps! I have never been a big napper because I always had a headache when I woke up. Well it seems they no longer do. After waking up early to study, meet with my tutee, a great workout (that kicked my butt!), and another study session. I was ready for a nap. It sooooo helped!
I am also thankful for my mom. She is a great help to me right now even if I don't always show her my appreciation.

For some reason my thoughts turned to developing countries as I let my water run while rinsing out some dishes this morning. Made me think of the abundance we have here in the U.S. - where half the population is obese, where I'm struggling to lose weight b/c I've eaten too much, where we can let our water run and run and run and not think twice about it. And there are people in other countries struggling to get by to survive, where an abundance of food and water would change lives, communities, etc. My struggle is with food restriction - theirs is survival. Geez, am I grateful or just plain depressed now?
I'm definitely grateful that I have access to such abundance.

PP...I hear what you are saying. I just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and it made me feel so grateful to be a woman living in the Western world. I did not have a choice, but living in the Western world means I can choose my partner, can have my partner arrested if he beats me, and I have rights. I can vote, I can own property, I can get an education, I can wear what I want to wear.
So today I am grateful for being a woman in the Western world and for having the opportunities that I do. Thank you God. And I ask that I be shown a way to help those women who are less fortunate than me.

I'm thankful for choices
We may not always be able to choose what happens to us but we can choose the attitude in which we respond.
I’m thankful for the gift of Love, Mercy and Grace and being brought up with choices.
Monday, April 7, 2008, 4:59 AM
PP: I agree and echo your sentiments. God gave us free will and to that belongs choosing our attitudes and reactions. Have a great day!
Monday, April 7, 2008, 6:29 AM

I didn't have time to journal this morning...so here is what I am grateful for today:
- Innocent flirting - who thought that just making eye contact with a cute stranger could make you smile for hours?
- Having clothes that fit before now fitting looser
- The upcoming weekend
- God's love

I am grateful that I kept that old belt that I only wore once. This is because my belts for work are all too big now and I found an old one that used to not fit and now, it fits perfectly!!!
I am also greatful for a loving family and friend/coworker base that motivates me to keep going. It feels great to be proud of my accomplishments.
Friday, April 11, 2008, 4:52 AM
I am thankful for Atheists. Though usually a silent minority, the current administration has forced them to get more vocal about the criminal behavior of the right wing fanatics that are hell bent on tearing down the basic freedoms that this country was founded on. Separation of church and state :) aaahhhh.
Saturday, April 12, 2008, 9:41 PM
I am thankful most of all for a wonderful God who knows me, my heart, and my desires. I am thankful for God giving me strength and courage to get through the hard times and the ability to enjoy the good times. But most of all I am grateful for His love. I look forward to the day when Jesus returns and the pain and suffering of this world will be over and we can all live in love...
Enjoy your Sunday and have a fantastic week!
Sunday, April 13, 2008, 3:01 AM
LOL!!!! I am so greatful for this thread!! Where else can you get a comment about being greatful for athiests be followed a comment about being greatful for God's love.
I love it. I'm also greatful for having an open mind and being able to look at both sides equally and find the joy that it can bring.
Sunday, April 13, 2008, 11:11 AM
For the little moments...
I am grateful for being able to get to know new people...chats on the train in the morning with new friends (what a nice way to start a Monday!)...a healthy, strong body and mind...new lessons learned and the paths they help forge...long, deep discussions and laughter over wine...the ability to change and God's help in doing so.
I wish everyone a great start to their week!
Monday, April 14, 2008, 8:20 AM
Sunshine after days of gray weather and rain...workout anticipation - I love knowing that I will get a good workout in and will sweat like crazy (so good for the skin!!)...flashes of self-understanding (if only I could hold onto them longer sometimes, maybe I would not make the same mistakes over and over again)

Hugs
I'm going through a very emotional and difficult time in my life and I have to keep it bottled up except in the privacy of my bedroom at night when no one but God can hear me. What I really need is a hug and shoulder to cry on.
However, this morning, I got to give the gift that I so desperately need, a hug and allowed someone I only know as an aquaintence cry, spill the beans and I gave her a hug.
Tuesday, April 15, 2008, 9:05 AM
A hug for 9:05...
I am with you in spirit! I too am going through a very emotional phase in my life. My life is in transition at the moment and even though it's a good transition it's stirring up all sorts of emotions and memories. To help myself I journal almost everyday and keep up a steady conversation with God...
So for you to be able to appreciate giving someone else what you need, that is so selfless and kind. I wish I could give you a hug and the shoulder you need to cry on!

Just to be alive...
I am grateful for the gift of life. Think about it, you exist and can experience life and all its ups and downs and that is a beautiful thing! Not sure what the world would be like if we did not exist, but I am grateful for the experiences (good and bad) it provides.

Patience
It's been said that patience is a virtue, but it's one I have always lacked on. So for a week that is going to be full of ups and downs, I am grateful for having a chance to work on my patience and placing my trust in God.

Grateful for PT
This site has changed my life! I hate to sound like one of those "after" commercials, but this site is wonderful! There is no way I would have lost the weight I have and felt so good about it without the support of the people here. So thank you PT!
I am just as grateful for life's little surprises and difficulties - they are what help us grow and teach us to lean on God for support. Here's to the person I am becoming!
Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 8:18 AM

Finding my silver lining
Despite the turmoil in my life right now, I am grateful for tackling the hard issues. This is God's way of molding me and helping me grow stronger. It is only through the heat of the fire that most metals can be molded. Afterwards they are stronger for it.
I am also grateful for absolutely beautiful weather!!! And for days on end!! I am grateful for finally breaking my plateau and for having a chance to improve my health and self-image. I am grateful for the many opportunities I have been given in the last few months. And I am grateful for anticipation - perhaps one of the greatest emotions of all. The thrill of expecting something new and knowing it is worth the wait!
