EMAIL THREAD
turned off the thread
to reiterate- be nice. If you can't do that find another site to vent and other people to take your frustrations out on.

good
Monday, March 31, 2008, 3:47 PM
is this laura99 again ruling the PT world?
Monday, March 31, 2008, 3:50 PM
Good for us all!
Monday, March 31, 2008, 3:53 PM
no- this is Habib and I am responding to the multiple emails we received requesting that the thread be turned off and that we (PT) work to make this a positive place.
Monday, March 31, 2008, 3:57 PM
Great-I have a request: can we please take off the thread about Starvation Mode? I find it offensive and people are rude in there.
Monday, March 31, 2008, 4:15 PM
Which thread was it?
Monday, March 31, 2008, 4:37 PM
the skinny people saying all fat people use excuses for the fat.
Monday, March 31, 2008, 4:43 PM
Thank you for working at making this a more possitive place. I really appreciate it.
Monday, March 31, 2008, 4:46 PM
Which thread got turned off? It must have been pretty bad to be deleted, because I have seen some nasty ones out there.
Monday, March 31, 2008, 4:46 PM
I don't several of the 'I hate it when' threads and I am very relieved. There was no redeeming value there whatsoever.
THanks PT! :-)
Monday, March 31, 2008, 4:47 PM
maybe a flagging system like craigslist uses would be helpful to get the rediculously offensive posts off the board.
Monday, March 31, 2008, 5:08 PM
relax there 6:00
I don't think they are going to turn off my thread. It is not nasty like the one they turned off was, I kindof agree with you in general but the "I hate when fat people..." one had gotten pretty petty and juvenile.
-"Stavation Mode" thread OP
Monday, March 31, 2008, 6:05 PM
I am not 6:00, but I am the one who said Turn off the starvation mode thread ONLY to prove a point that if people whines loud enough, we can get every thread turned off because it's always going to offend someone. Buck up people. If you don't like a topic, don't go to it.
Someone whined because they thought people weren't playing nice in that thread. BOO f***ing HOO. If they get to whine and have threads turned off because they don't like it, then I have the right to do so as well. Where does that get us? Nowhere, but PT has made it a practice that if people email and bitch because someone hurt their feelings, we'll just make it go away.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 9:10 AM
Let's start a Stuart Smalley thread..."I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and Gosh darnit, people like me!" Will that make everyone happy? m
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 9:19 AM
So we should use our well defended, "freedom of speech" to say worthwhile things like, "fat people are annoying" ?
It was fun for a while, but just got dumb - would you like to summarize the salient and useful counter-points to the "hate skinny people" thread ?
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 10:08 AM
i think people have the right to say or type whatever the hell they want, i can't change that nor would i want to. What they say is a direct reflection of themselves, their attitude, demeanor.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 10:15 AM
I think PT turned it off because many of the comments on that thread were counter to the PURPOSE of this site which is to have peers encourage and learn together, not to have a forum where you can have fun attacking people for their weight problems.
It is not the American Free Press in here - it is a support network
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 10:24 AM
It's the real world, people! In any discussions or arguments things are bound to get heated and people will say things that may be offensive to some but honestly we are all adults and should be able to voice our thoughts on a subject whether the majority agrees with it or not. We aren't always nice to each other, and if people can dish it out then certainly ought to be able to take it.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 10:29 AM
the rule here (and we will repeat this over and over) is "be nice"- if you can't do that feel free to enjoy your freedom of speech elsewhere. nobody is forcing you to post here or read the threads or anything. This is a place for support. If you need to abuse others, do it elsewhere.
We have enough, overwhelming amount of feedback from the community that we know this is what the vast majority want. If you have a problem with that, you know what to do.

MEE-OW! Even PT is getting a bit snarly. Maybe we should turn off this thread too.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 2:17 PM
you'd be snarlin' too if someone was poopin' in your backyard.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 2:19 PM
practice what you preach is all i'm sayin
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 2:38 PM
I thought that PT comment was snarky too.
Keep on not appreciating the clients and see if everyone knows what to do.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 3:36 PM
I still find it funny how the PT police will delete threads because someone complained their feelings were hurt, but threads that aren't weight loss related like hair do down there is just fine and dandy to leave up--as long as everyone talks nicely about how you shave your nether region...
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 3:39 PM
2:53 are you serious?? That scares me bc I never log anything I eat!
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 3:40 PM
Get Over It
PT has the right to manage and monitor its site based on its own ethics, as were determined in its development.
I think that if they want to delete a thread they can, the only thing is just don't say they are deleting it. The thread goes away and voila, people find something else to moan about or somewhere else to do it.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 5:30 PM
5:30 A-M-E-N ! !
This is the dumbest thread of all time - get a life people. Move on.
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 5:43 PM
to the 10:29 poster ... this is actually NOT the real world ... it's an anonymous forum where you are able to be nasty without anyone coming after you or knowing it was you that said it. if your best friend was fat, would you say the nasty things you say on this site?
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 5:56 PM
I would say that if anyone felt the need "To go after" someone who says something on a thread that they ought to get a grip and learn how to manage their overly sensitive feelings.
Wednesday, April 2, 2008, 10:34 AM
agreed!
And yes, PT has the right to manage and delete anything they feel necessary, but do it FAIRLY and CONSISTENTLY! You set up a less than desirable image by pecking and choosing based on whining rather than policy and standards
Wednesday, April 2, 2008, 10:54 AM
PLEASE DELETE THIS THREAD!
Wednesday, April 2, 2008, 11:08 AM
PP no - let's all stop posting on it so it goes away now. SO DUMB !
