LIGHT mayonnaise - my butt

Can someone explain to me the concept of "light" mayonnaise ?

At the store it says like - calories 45
&
CALORIES FROM FAT 40.

...so can they add a tablespoon of marshmallow fluff to lard and call it "light" lard?

What the %$&* ?

I only eat light mayo, because it is only 45 calories per service. I think the regular stuff is 80-100 per serving.

Yes most of the calories come from fat but you get more for the calories. And really best foods brand is pretty good.
The fat free is just, well, ick.

The calories from fat are high because mayo is predominately fat.

Nothing if light when they say it is, I swear. it's so aggravating, they shouldn't even be allowed to sell stuff that is so horrible for you.

100% FAT is reduced fat ???????????

Dudes, can anybody answer my question - I looked in the fridge this morning and the reduced fat Hellmans says
calories 20
calories from fat 20

http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrition-calories/food/hellmanns/reduced-fat-mayonnaise

Why in the hell is that not illegal !

So if I sell congealed bacon fat and say only use 1 tablespoon instead of two is it "reduced fat congealed bacon fat" ???

BASTARDS!

It is light mayonaise because it has half the calories of regular mayonaise for the SAME VOLUME. It also has half the fat for the SAME VOLUME. Mostly I avoid foods w/ mayo because of the fat, but occasionally splurge on something that just doesn't taste right without the mayo, but I can save half the fat by using the light version as long as I don't double the amount. Fat free mayo is just wrong.

still 100% FAT

Thanks y'all, I guess that explains it sortof...

4:36 - Thanks for solving the mystery pretty much - so what do they do - fluff air into it ? ?
I guess 100% fluffy fat helps because you maybe use 50% less of the fat with fluffy fat than reg fatty fat...

Shouldn't it be called NEW REDUCED DENSITY 100% FAT MAYO or...ummm... something - - that is so misleading !

How 'bout fluffy puff mayo ! We can get Homestar to sell it...
