ot - insecure about my boyfriend

Hi,

I'm 20 years old and have been dating a boy for a year and 9 months. Throughout the relationship, he has been nothing but faithful, and I must say - he is constant as the northern star (that is, he has been remarkably unfaltering). On the other hand, I've broken up with him ... twice (possibly three times, it's all hazy now), although I never seemed able to really stay away. In the end we've gotten back together, with probably only a total of a month off and no "infidelities" to speak of.

I love him more than ever these days, but I think there's something wrong with me. I can't help but feel so insecure about whether he might consider other girls to be better alternatives than me. He has NEVER shown interest in other girls, and I am always amused at how much he seems to find potential alternatives so much less attractive than I even find them! However, I am certainly not perfect (as I know nobody is), and can be a little crazy at times, kind of going up and down. My boyfriend is a GREAT guy. He's hard working, ambitious, and honestly, super hot (is on a sports team here at my college), and he's got a lot of girls just biding their time.

To be honest, in the past I've been somewhat full of myself when it came to relationships, and I never really took guys seriously. I kind of thought I was "hot stuff", and always enjoyed being pursued. Well, I take my boyfriend now very seriously, and I need to learn how to handle a mature relationship, and how to fully internalize the fact that this guy who is always telling me he loves me won't leave just because there are other girls out there who want them, but I feel like I need some serious help, or something...Also, the more comfortable he seems, the less he will do things like get me little "surprises" etc. - this may be a contributing factor? Hard to know... but it's been a long period of insecurity for me, and I would like to be secure and just happy in love..
