270 pounds....timed mile.....good or bad?

Hello!

I started running 5 times a week about 2 weeks ago. Along with running i have cut nearly all sugar out of my diet and minimized my carb intake. I try to get around 50 grams of protein per day from chicken, egg whites, etc... Tonight i finished a mile between 9:30 and 10 min. Is this good? I am trying to loose weight and my goal is to be able to run a 25-30 min 5k in the fall. is this a realistic goal? I am nearly 21 years old and am trying to shed some pounds and get in better shape. My grandfather on my mothers side died of a heart attack when he was 40 and i dont want that to happen to me!
