omg! that's what we plan to name our first girl! i love it....

We named our daughter Violet. A few months later, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck named their daughter Violet too. I read it was a family name for them also. It's not too popular yet, but that might change. I love the name, of course :o)
My husband picked the name. It's from his side of the family.

other flower names are becoming more popular again as well: Lily, Lily Rose...

Violet is a nice girl name.

I really like the name... but whenever I hear it I think of "Violet... you're turning Violet" from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I guess that kind of ruins it for me as she balloons up and rolls away!

I'll add my 'I agree!' to the list. It's a very sweet name, yet not real popular (a bonus!)

2:12 - you made me laugh with the Willy Wonka comment! LOL :)

What sweet old fashioned names from my grandmother's generation...Violet, Rose, Lily (my cat's name)...also Iris. I love those names and I am glad to see they are making a comeback.
So yes, count me in with the yay's

Yes, cute name in a world of Emmas and Emilys. I also love Dahlia but couldn't quite get the right pronunciation.

I love old-fashioned names! Violet is great! My friend named her daughter Rubi-which I also love!

what a cute name! I think old fashioned names are 'in' again, so I think it would be a great name. Although if you want something that isn't common, I think this one is getting more popular.

Reminds me of the girl from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, the obnoxious one who blew up like the blueberry. I don't have good thoughts when I hear that name.

Try being a teacher! You won't believe the names that are forever ruined for you because you attach them to some student who drove you nuts!!

I had a customer named Violet and she was elderly and she was the sweetest lady you could ever want to know.
SO yes I think Violet is a lovely name.

"Violet! You're turning violet!"
All the old-fashioned names make me gag. Sorry.

What does this have to do with healthy eating and medical issues, exercise?
In answer to what a good name is to accompany Violet, my cousin's daughter's middle name is Violet and her first name is Penelope. Penelope is now 11 year old.

I think so, DEF!

6:48 - it may be the OP's intention to avoid giving her daughter a name that will drive her to seek solace in Ding Dongs and deep pan pizza when she's a teen ager. And the overwhelming consensus seems to be that Violet is a lovely name and if she turns to food to cope - it won't be b/c she's got a goofy name.
