Vacation Diet Suggestions

I am going on vacation in three weeks and would like to drop between 2 and 5 lbs before then. I work out 5 days a week and I'm in my late twenties.

Can anyone give any HEALTHY suggestions of a daily diet to get this weight off by then ? I don'tl really have the time to do more cardio so I'd like to help my body out with a really clean diet for this time frame, which combined with my workouts will take the weight off.

Suggestions on breakfast, lunch and dinner woudl be aprpeciated. Please keep this a positive thread if possible.

I consider myself a healthy eater, but I konw I could do better and would love some suggestions of what has worked for other PTers.

Thanks!

This is what I do (but I am a guy): you can modify it however you like it is daily, strict and doable.

6am – 1/4c. oatmeal w/ 1/8thc. dried fruit 150 cal.
8am – 1 protein shake 120 cal.
10am - 1/4c. oatmeal w/ 1/8thc. dried fruit 150 cal.
1 low sodium V-8 & multi-vitamin 70 cal.
12pm – 1 can tuna w/ hot sauce 150 cal.
½ banana & 1 tbsp peanut butter 150 cal.
2pm – 1 serv. Fat free cottage cheese 80 cal.
4pm - 1 can tuna w/ hot sauce 150 cal.
½ banana & 1 tbsp peanut butter 150 cal.
6pm - 1 protein shake 120 cal.
8pm – healthy various dinner 600 cal.
10pm – protein shake 120 cal.

take the cardio up just one notch too.

Good luck

LOL! I can't imagine that being anything close to a healthy diet for a woman's metabolism...especially considering how much Tuna Boy works out. I'd recommend the South Beach Diet Phase I, which lasts 2 weeks. It's amazing. Think lots of vegetables & lean meat. No carbs. No fruit.

I agree with the veggies and lean meat, but I'd eat fruit too. No/few carbs, and no processed foods. Just eat clean, and the weight will come off.

OP HERE

Yougurt is a big staple in my diet... it gets me from breakfast to lunch... I eat the yoplait fat free versions w/fruit already mixed in. I believe its 100 calories per package.

Would I be better off with fruit? Are some fruits better than others ?

I eat a banana before I get to work... I'm sure they are not bad for me but I believe they may be high on the glycemic index... is there a better fruit to eat ?

thanks!!

yogurt is good but fat free cottage cheese is better - more protein - less carbs, less calories.
Bananas are fine, go for it.

Have you lost the five yet?

No... not yet I just posted yesterday, lol.

Don't worry tuna boy people are just hating!

Shoot if it works for you then go for it.... though I really don't think that I should be eating that much tuna considering that I'm 28 and may want kids.

I've heard the mercury levels in canned tuna can be high and its not recommended for women my age.

But thans for the ideas... keep on loosing weight :)

thanks, I don't take it personally, I just like this place and need help stickin' to it. My wife is pregnant with our second now and I wouldn't recommend a lot of tuna for her - you are certainly right...but you can sub in some other good protein souce though. Good luck!

I have done the Special K diet before vacations and lost 6lbs in 2 weeks. It usually doesn't stay off during the vacation, and it isn't a diet you can do for too long, but good for last minute weight loss!

congrats on the baby! I am avid read of Oxygen Magazine (womens' fitness mag) and I will likely purchase the Eat Clean Diet book..... I need some variation in my diet otherwise I'll get bored.

Instead of bananas get strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Nix the yoplait, it has tons of high fructose corn syrup and/or sugars. I'd stick to plain fat free and add fresh fruit. The phase I of South Beach only lasts 2 weeks, then you can slowly start adding back fruits and whole grains...but if you need a quick healthy fix that'd the way to go.

No harm intended, TB. I think it's great that you lost so much weight and that you found a diet you can stick to. I just worry that you're missing out on all the good stuff (fresh vegetables & fruit. whole grains, etc.)

Try the Danon Light and Fit yogurt, small size - around 40 to 45 calories each and NOT high in sugars. You can also add some fresh fruit to that but I add about a tablespoon of chopped walnut. Gives it a great crunch, nutty flavor, and kicks up the protein a notch!

OP again

Ok great suggestions thanks! I have been perplexed as to why it takes me so long to loose weight. I'm just not one of those people who can drop 2 lbs a week. I eat healthy but I think I may need to go really out there for a couple of weeks to shed these pounds.

So I'll let go of the yoplait and switch that out for grapes and strawberries. The bananas are so easy to eat on the run... I'll have to see what I can replace those with.

I just realized that I have been adding about 200 calories a day with the fat free creamer I put in my tea... soI I'll switch to green tea + honey to cut those out.

thanks!
