How do you feel after a workout

I've been feeling like my cardio workouts aren't enough lately. I am by no means a "fit" person but when i'm done i'm drenched in sweat but my muscles feel like they could take more. last night I did 2 1/2 hours on the elliptical, cranked up the intensity and while it was fun (and hard) after a minute, I felt like going on to something else. I should add I had some black coffee before my cardio and have been doing that for a bit now. could the caffiene be tricking my body into thinking it can go further? How do I know where to set my limit for cardio? I feel fine otherwise and this has been happening with my dance and zumba dvds as well.
