Will a 10K Hurt My Body?
I have been doing 5k's for the last few years and I decided to train for a 10K. When I complete 4 miles, my pelvis aches badly. I am pushing myself to train and complete 6 miles, but now I am wondering whether it is worth it. I can do a 5k pain free, a 10k will require me to take advil BEFORE I start the run. IAdvise?

Talk to your doctor about getting a bone density test - runners are known to have problems with this, so it may be the source of your pain no matter what your age is.

I believe you can do it, without hurting yourself. It's all about the training, eating right, being well hydrated, getting plenty of rest, wearing the right socks and shoes; you need to change your shoes after 500 miles and streching, especially after you run. One other key; have the right attitude about it; your mind is an amazing thing.
I ran a marathon, 26.2 miles . Let me tell you, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I encorporated all of the above and it was an awesome experience. For me, an other thing that I did that helped me quit alot was prayer. I asked God to help me make it and He did!

go see a physical therapist who works specifically with runners/athletes. In just 1 or 2 visits you can learn a lot about how to take care of your body as you train.
