We got ours from Sears, it is a Kenmore. I don't know what the model number is but it works great. It has the push buttons under plastic, maybe you call that a pad. Like a touch pad. We have never had a bit of trouble with it, it is relatively quiet. You can be in the same room and have a conversation easily.
I think we bought it in 2001 or there abouts.
But our first try was also a sears one but a much lower end. Like the cheapest you could get. We needed to save. But it only had one arm? The area that the water comes out of. And the dishes did not get clean at all. So we took it back and got this one. They told us that the one we had chosen at first was one that people put in apartments. So they don't want to put too much money into it.
Anyway as I said we are very satisfied with this one. We are trying to remember how much we paid for it and it was in the 400 dollar range.
Hope you find what you want.

Go to something like BestBuy.com and read the consumer reviews on a few different dishwashers. I have saved myself from making a lot of awful purchase decisions by checking the reviews on the product first.

Depending on what your previous experience with your old dishwasher was like, go for kitchenaid again. They have a reputation for durability and innovation. Kitchenaid is made by Whirlpool (corp) who also now owns / makes Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana.
Kenmore product is manufactured by, GE, Frigidaire, Whirpool corp, Samsung, LG, Bosch .. for Sears under the Kenmore brand, so do some hunting if you decide to go Kenmore to find out who you are getting.
I am personally a big fan of high end Frigidaire, Bosch, Jenn-Air and Kitchenaid. It also depends on whether VBL is important to you (visual brand language = all the handles / dipslays match).

Recomendations = Take your time, don't go to the dealer websites per say (Besy Buy / Sears / Lowes ets ... ), start with the manufacturer websites you are interested in, go through the features you want narrow it down then go to dealer sites in your area.
Good luck

We have a GE Profile dishwasher, pretty fancy, it dispenses it's own detergent (you put a whole bottle in, and it dispenses just a little bit per wash), and other fancy toys like that.

However, I'm constantly finding dishes still dirty after the dishwasher has been run!

So, I don't have a recommendation, but I do NOT recommend my fancy lil machine...
