Anyone taking "A New Earth" class with Oprah and Tolle?
I just started this book group online with Eckhart Tolle and Oprah. You can watch through the link (chapter one). It is really thoughtful and gets at some of the bigger things we deal with when we are looking at the life changes involved with losing weight and living healthier.
Anyone else doing it (or want to do it)? What do you think?

I wanted to do it but I didn't sign up in time. Can I still sign up? I have really been into the same kind of stuff for some time now. It has really changed my life. I am so happy and positive all the time. In turn the things that happen in my life are happy and positive as well. I live for the now. If you like it there is also another website you can go to at www.hayhouseradio.com. There is something there for everyone. It has radio shows that are inspiring and uplifting. They also help you in dealing with different life issues. Go into show archives. I like Dr. Wayne Dyer and Cheryl Richardson. Check it out and post back what you think.

It's a great thing. If everyone did this, the world would be a happier place.

It's definitely not light reading. Take it one section at a time. And let each section rest on your brain.

I am loving the book. It does take a shift in thinking (or AWAY from thinking). Getting to that ground before thought....or the realization that you are thinking ...and you are more than your thoughts or emotions is new for many people.
The meditation traditions are built on this kind of awareness. Makes you reframe all that chatter that we carry around...some of it telling us to eat not so great food.
I like Eckhart Tolle because he uses very plain language to explain consciousness. He experienced this shift in awareness during a very difficult period in his life...he wsn't taught it originally so he is able to explain from this very human experience. I like that. It really helps me understand what he is trying to say.
The Oprah link in the OP is good too for getting what he is trying to say in his book.

You really have to have an open mind. If you don't then I can see how you would think it's a crock.

I am getting so much from this book and can't say enough good things about it!
I think the 2nd and 3rd chapters were a little easier to grasp than the first.

Definitely pp, I am on chapter 7 and reading slowly, a little everyday. I listened to the Oprah podcast from week one yesterday and really enjoyed that too. I am glad that there are "western" explanations of consciousness out there. It seems that many are not ready for this type conversation. I like the awareness that we are more than the chatter we carry around in our heads.

I agree with 10:53 for the most part - Tolle is 3% astonishingly great inspiration and 97% utter B.S. Why not stick with something with staying power that has stood the test of time for a few hundred years instead
