I'm sorry but Obama sounds like a preacher
have you heard him speak? He sounds like he's giving a sermon. How could anyone vote for that guy?

He spoke at my university last night....it was amazing. He does sound like a preacher but only in the sense that he brings hope, just like others before him that have caused change in history. It was way cool to be a part of something that may be talked about in future generations. Just my opinion of course.

Yeah, that's hardly news though. The media has brought up his preacher-like quality quite a bit in recent weeks. But if you're bored and want to start an off-topic thread fight, knock yourself out.

I heard him speak in person and he was great. What is wrong with sounding like a "preacher"...or minister? What about Martin Luther King? I think good speaking skills is central to the job as president. You want someone who inspires people.

I suppose it's better than sneaking references to born-again theology into your speeches...
"Wonder working power" comes to mind...

You're responding to the tone and speech patterns in his voice.
NPR did a great story on how a candidate's vocal timbre can affect a candidate's overall appeal: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=19304285
They did say he does sound a little "preachy" while Hillary, when she's not too careful, can sound like a bit like a "nagging mom".

he sounds like a lawyer to me, just a lot of mumbo jumbo to avoid saying anything. He'd make an excellent Federal Reserve Chairman--- he reminds me of Alan Greenspan.
Hillary sounds a lot smarter, and actually seems coherent. Not that it matters because she is a shrill phony. John McCain is going to win anyway so none of this matters.

He does not sound like a preacher to me!
Mr. Obama does not sound like a preacher, he sounds like a motivator to me. I like him, because t is my perception that the USA has fallen fast asleep, because we are comfortable with the status quo. Mr. Obama is attempting to motivate people to wake up and take control of our country. He is ringing the alarm. If you really look, and I mean really look, you will see that we are lagging in many areas compared to other countries.
America needs to wake up.
