How to find a workout partner?

HELP!!!! I need to find someone to be a workout partner and help with my motivation!!! Working out alone for over a year has definitely gotten boring. Any ideas for how to meet someone to have as a workout partner?

THANKS!

looking for workout partner

Where are you located? I think it's really hard to find someone to stick with you because you need to find someone who is at the same fitness level or close to it. I myself am looking for someone too and it's really tough.

I've seen ads on Craig's list or there's a site I've looked at called 'exercisefriends' - seemed like a good idea but there was no one in my area at the time I looked (however they were just getting started). I met someone indirectly through Craig's list - we both joined a book club, found out we lived within blocks of each other and both were about the same level and wanted to get out more. We've been walking and just joined a gym together - it's been great! Just keep your eye open and keep looking! Good luck!

Yea, I tried to look on Exercise friends, but no one in my area. I know there are other people out there looking for workout partners, it took me forever to just even find a website that I could post on!!!

I live in Jersey about 5 minutes from Hoboken. I guess I could put something on Craigslist. I'll let you know how it works! Thanks :)

My gym has a community board where you can post for exercise buddies...I've never tried it, but it would guarantee that you get someone in your neighborhood. And if you're working out in a gym, you don't need to be on the same level as much - you can bike together, one person on level 20 and the other on level 5. Same thing with the weight machines - you just adjust them to what you need.

You'd probably have better luck asking someone at Bally's. Do you go to classes? Is there someone you see working out in the same classes or at the same time you do on a regular basis? Start striking up conversations with people around you. You could ask them somewhat indirectly "I'm looking for a workout partner to do XY & Z with me on these days. Do you know of any other Bally members who might be interested in being workout buddies?" The person you ask may then say they would like to, but the way you phrase the question they are not put on the spot.

The biggest problem I have is that the gym I go to is 90% males!!! The price was right, 250$ for the entire year so I couldn't say no! All the other gyms are unbelievably priced, but I am willing to pay so that I can have the motivation. It is a definite drag working out someplace where guys just stare at you or the women who are working out are just going through the motions to say that they joined a gym.

I thought about joining Club KO, for cardio kickboxing class but WOW do they charge an unbelievable amount of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya'll should say where you are located. Some of us might be close together. Re-post with your location and fitness stage.

Mine is Redlands, California
I am at a pretty high stage of fitness, need someone to challenge me or just go with me to keep me company. I have been working out for a year and I am getting bored of it.

Looking for workout partner in Davis Area

Hello,

I am 49, female, married, no kids. I would like to find a female workout buddy. I live in Davis. My goal is to lose at least 20-30 pounds. It would be nice to get to talk with someone going through the same thing. I was hoping maybe there was someone out there. I' m looking for a weight loss buddy, or going for a walk. So we can motivate and support each other to set goals. Someone who is serious about getting in good shape. So if you're interested please feel free to email me or leave your email address. Thanks

Meetup.com

Have you checked out meetup.com? Everytime I move to a new city, I always refer to this site to find social groups based on interest. You can find various outdoor sport groups, fitness groups, and even weight loss, among other things.

Bigger cities tend to offer more and be more active.
