pasta is seriously a drug
If I don't have pasta for weeks, I am completely fine but even one lunch or even a pasta dinner and then I want mounds of it every day. What is it???

Have you tried whole wheat pasta? Does it have the same effect on you as regular pasta?

I'm the same way. Wheat actually does spike my dopamine levels- but the crash is terrible. If I make pasta, I cannot make any more than one serving otherwise I will eat it ALL. Pasta in the fridge? oh no, it doesn't get that far.
I stick to tinkyada rice pasta which at least only makes me want more for a day or so, as opposed to a 5 day binge. Much better for me.
(And whole wheat is even worse for me- wheat of any kind, and ESPECIALLY unprocessed wheat is NOT my friend)

I'm a pasta JUNKIE!!!! I've learned to eat Pasta Plus (by Barilla)....still not as good for you as whole wheat, but its packed full of protein and fiber. Its filling like the whole wheat stuff so I don't eat as much. I also find if I make a meal with it, I'm likely not to crave it as bad. It also tastes much more like the real deal.

I don't know about craving it but I always only make enough for only one serving for each person. That way there is no temptation to snack on it later.

You might try deBoles artichoke pasta, or kashi (buckwheat) pasta, or pasta made from other grains. Find them at a whole foods or wild oats or someplace like that.

You can also try polenta... I have had really good luck with it curbing my appetite for pasta (a staple, since I don't eat meat!)

It seriously is an addiction. Although this source is promoting a diet, read it. It makes a LOT of sense as to why most of our favorite foods are full of carbs!

spaghetti squash is a great idea. I love that stuff. I think you should give up pasta all together. If you can't control yourself, why torture yourself?
