I've always had a problem with the concept of Global Warming as a bad thing.
Good thing it's just a fad that hits every 20 years.

7:35 - just curious - what are you paying and what part of the country? I live in the northeast and I honestly don't know how lower income people/families afford heat. It's a huge expense! We run about $375/mo and that's keeping the thermostat low during the work day (even though I work from home - brrrrrrr...)

We have a 4,000 sqf house in WA and our electric/heat runs about $450 a month right now. Gas is only going to get more expensive, which is going to drive up the rates even higher. In a lot of ways we still have it good though, most countries pay over $5 a gallon and gas heat is way more then the USA

You know that's not how global warming works, right? That doesn't mean that every place gets really hot. It means that the greenhouse gasses are damaging parts of the globe, melting glaciers, etc, and causing unusual weather patterns and extreme temperatures. both cold and hot.

Yeah I was going to point something similar to that but I didn't want ppl to think I'm starting something. Kinda offended by the thread b/c global warming is a serious thing yet many many ppl in this world still don't proactively do what they can.

Yes we all know ..
Global warming is an issue, but can't we just joke around? We are complaining in unison.
I find that this winter has been bad for fewer sunlight hours which makes everything feel so much colder.
I have always marked the start of spring by St Pattys day, I just remember being a kid and standing outside watching the parade and feeling that slight hint that winter is on its way out, mind you a week later we usually got blasted by another snow storm.

1. Yes, global warming is real and serious for many parts of the world. Some places really feeling it's effects. And..yes, one of the effects of global warming is more extremes in weather and "freek" or severe storms. Think about the rash of tornados that recently swept through the Kentucky/ Tennessee area...two or three months ahead of typical tornado weather there. In MN there are lakes that are usually ice fished most the winter yet the season has been cut short because the ice is not as thick as normal.
2. Yes, it is ok to joke about it. Without humur, where are we? I've lived in the cold places and know that cabin fever feeling. Even here in Sunny Florida I am really tired of winter. It does get a little cold here. Looking forward to some consistent warm days here in about a week or so.
3. If you are sick of cold then move down here to Florida! I have some gulf front property that may be just right for you!! It's beautiful and spring arrives at the end of February/early March (depending on where one is in this state). I'd love to move back north where I can enjoy a white Christmas. Lord knows we need the boost in house sales here, but no one wants to buy here anymore........remember Katrina?
4. Just my tongue in cheek 2 cents...for whatever that is worth.

86 inches of snow so far this year. Normal is "only" 42. 6"-8" more on the way Monday. But first it's gonna rain again. On top of all that snow. Creating ANOTHER ice storm, just like the one we had last weekend, right before we got another foot of snow dumped on us.
I am so sick of winter I am about to lose my mind.

Global Warming
There's a new global warming bill that's going through Congress. The global warming bill, or the Waxman Markey Act, establishes a cap and trade system on carbon emissions, which some think will lead to a greener economy, more jobs, and cheaper energy bills. Others think it won't amount to much – consumers will still need payday loans for their electricity bills and energy companies will be pocketing cash as it creates another industry bubble, and will only lead to consumers having to pay more out of pocket and more government programs that will need taxpayer funding. A
global warming bill
of some kind was due eventually, but more people needing a cash advance for utilities isn't a great idea.
