exercise dvds
hello!
I'm awfully shy about going to the gym, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a great handful of exercise dvds. I've got a couple Billy Blanks tae bo dvds (love those!) and a few so-so dance ones. I'm specifically looking for weight-loss yoga or pilates titles.
much thanks in advance!

Right now I am loving Cathe Friedrich dvds - they are mostly step aerobics and weightlifting. If you want more info..she has a pretty good website.
You can also go to www.collagevideo.com to see clips, descriptions and reviews of all kinds of exercise videos.
Also, if you use the search field at the top you'll find lots of old threads about exercise videos to get some more ideas.
good luck!

I have several workout dvds. If you like The Biggest Loser show, then you may want to try their dvds. I recommend TBL 2 dvd workout. It has nine different workouts you can try. I think it's put together better than their newer releases. If you're looking for cardio workouts, I really recommend Turbo Jam. The music is great and Chalene is awesome. There is one dvd that has 5 different workouts - Learn, Burn, 20 Minute Quick, Cardio Party and Ab Jam. It's a great beginner dvd for Turbo Jam and will get you hooked. I just bought Cardio Party 2, and I'm looking forward to buying the third one. Most of them you can find on Ebay.
Let us know what you choose!

If you're looking for yoga or pilates style, try t-tapp. It's a totally challenging workout where you have to focus and think about form at all times.

Yes, Ellen Barrett is brilliant. Somehow she creates a gentle, graceful, and peaceful workout and I barely mind the sweat dripping down my face! Netflix has several of her DVDs -- I'd recommend anything by her.

And if you like to watch hot guys work out, then I recommend Gilad. He's an intense guy to watch, and he's on Fit TV with two series: the first is Bodies in Motion, done in maybe the 80s or 90s...I say this because the outfits are a bit dated; and the second, my favorite, is Total Body Sculpt. He WHIPS you into shape, usually working two major muscle groups at a time (think lunge and then a shoulder press) and he's not there saying, "Yes, you can do it, that's great," in some whiny voice like the guy from Buns of Steel, and he's not into legwarmers. I believe you can get these DVDs of Gilad's from Netflix. If you can make yourself do the work, you will see the results. I got very lean from doing his workouts, and have I mentioned he's nice to look at?

Has anyone tried Yoga Booty Ballet? The ads for it look really fun, but I wasn't sure what to expect. I would love something that is fun and "dance-y" without requiring too much coordination (which I don't have). Also, there are so many YBB videos that I didn't know which to try. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Netflix! Wonderful suggestion! I just dropped my Netflix membership because I would never get around to watching the DVD's. I have a huge collection of fitness DVD's and videos and some of them are actually duds.
I have borrowed videos from my local library in the past.
I just spent $50 on 2 DVDs for rebounding workouts.
I may have to rethink my Netflix membership again.
