Invisalign-Anyone used these to straighten teeth?

I'm thinking about getting Invisalign, the clear retainer like braces. I'm meeting with the dentist for a consultation next week.
I'm curious to know about the average costs, pain, lasting results, total number of months you wore them, and any other general comments.
I know this is off topic for PT, but we are all here to improve ourselves, and this is one way I want to feel better about myself.

I did a teeny bit of research about a year ago, and it sounded like, for top and bottom teeth, the entire progression would be somewhere around $3000, but, that there are some generic brands that do the same thing and would cost about half the price.

I'm dying to do it too, but can't afford the price!!

Ditto. Would love it but can't handle the cost.

I just read that you remove the Invisalign retainers when you eat and drink. If I have to remove the retainers everytime I eat, that may reduce my snacking and help with weight loss! LOL!

I have them!

Reading the last poster about getting them for weight loss...that is why I got them. I had been wanting them for a while but never did it. Finally I said yeah I think that will help me not eat so much....It didn't. I just popped it out when I wanted to eat something...it was almost tooo easy!

I got them for the bottom only and I am really pleased with the results. I don't think it is noticeable at all but if you had them on the top I think they would be noticeable and your speech would be affected a little. Mine was a flat rate (basically I kept getting new trays until I was satisfied with the results) for $2900. Bottom only.

I am one week into treatment, the cost was only about $200 more than regular braces. I love them!!! Worth the money! You can see them if you are really looking but for most people they don't. You have to take them out to eat, which has dramatically stopped my snacking, it is not an easy task so with each thing you want to eat you ask yourself is it really worth, taking them out, brushing my teeth, etc. So as a result in one week I have lost weight. I really recommend them.
