Best Valentine / Worst Valentine

Best Valentine: My boyfriend at the time came to my office with four of his buddies and they were dressed up in tuxes and they serenaded me. When they were done they went to the next guy's girlfriend's office. They hit 5 workplaces that day and we each got our own song.

Worst Valentine: The only thing I got was a card from my ex-boss' ex-girlfriend. ????

My Mom sends me heart-shaped cookies for V-day. There have been plenty of years when I felt utterly humiliated that the only V-day anything that anyone gave me was from my Mom. And cookies, which I don't need.

OTOH, they're excellent cookies. And I still have my Mom, and she loves me! (Dad, too, but he's not much of a baker.)

So I guess that's the worst AND the best -- the difference is in how _I_ look at it.

I've been with the same person for 20 years now and they're all good - he writes the best love letters and he can make me feel like we're in college again with all the lust and passion - ha.

The worst - I got a box of half eaten chocolates. I'm pretty sure I broke up with him a few weeks later!

Best - definitely has not happened yet, despite having a significant other for 15 out of the last 20 years. Even though some were nice, there was always some 800-lb silent gorilla in the room that prevented true enjoyment.

Worst - sending flowers to the boyfriend's office, having them go unacknowledged. Then when I asked him at dinner later, he said "Oh yeah, I got them. But you've given me flowers before so it's old". Which brings us to part 2, same V-day: I took him to dinner at a restaurant we both had been to and liked, only to be told that even though I paid for it, he didn't consider it a treat because the food was lousy. Part 3: Then we walked 2 miles home afterwards...he walked at, I kid you not, 5mph (I'd timed him in the past), and at 230 lbs, I struggled to attain half that pace. I had just eaten, felt sick from trying to keep him in sight, so in his drippy fake-solicitous voice, he offered to call me an ambulance since I was so fat and red-faced that I must be having a heart attack.

By the way, if someone handed me a genuine Get-Out-of-Jail free card, he'd be the first against the wall.

8:29 I giggled at your last sentence so maybe all is not in vain.
Best - sadly can't really think of any. But our anniversary is two weeks after vday so don't usually do much. Best anniversary was our first he cut out little paper hearts and I did a hunt for each clue leading to a stuffed animal and earrings.
Worst - I tried to make brownies for my boyfrieand and they turned out more like hockey pucks. One V day I pouted that my boyfriend hadn't gotten me anything and so he got me a card but I made him do it!

Best - My husband put gifts with little notes all over the house before he went to work while I was still sleeping. The biggest gift was a lamp with a note that said "you light up my life, now let me return the favor." There was also my favorite chai in the fridge, fancy soap in the shower, a new mug in the cupboard, and chocolate all over place. Everywhere I looked I found something new.

Worst - We had a fun evening planned out then due to problems at work my husband had to work late.

Usually I plan the Valentine's day. Each year we go to a different restaurant andspend the night in a boutique hotel. I make the plans and foot the bill.
Last year I hada hysterectomy on Feb 8 and so Valentines was spent tending to my 8 inch incision. Not sexy.
This year I am making no plans. I got my Hubby and my Son each a box of chocolate and a card. I have been feeling taken for granted lately. He knows it, lets see if he even gives a thought. I doubt it. So maybe this year will be worst then last. He has forgotten Valentine's day in the past and my Birthday and our 1 year anniversary. So what should I expect? The thing is he remembered everything before we were married. I would never have married someone who didn't remember my important dates. Now after only 2 years I am furniture.

We don't actually acknowledge Valentine's Day. I started out not acknowledging this (my worst Valentine's Day!) for this reason:
Boyfriend at the time and I got into a huge fight, and he slept with another woman. Actually got back with him the next day and stayed with him for 2 more years (insecure, yes!). The day just gives me a bad taste in my mouth. Hubby is fine with this-our birthdays are in February, so we just celebrate those!

Best - my husband took me out for dinner and a movie, and then to a hotel to spend the night (it had a whirlpool tub that was very nice). The next day, we went snow tubing for the first time and had a lot of fun.

Worst - any year that I was by myself.

Let me get this right - your husband loved you so much that he made you change your body for him? Or did he not succeed in making you feel beautiful, attractive and loved so you begged for fake boobs to achieve that? And this was a BEST Valentine?????????

Thank you for the boob congrats

and for 10:10, my husband adores, and actually treats me like a princess. I am in shape after losing 40 lbs 5 years ago AND keeping it off, but with weight loss there is booby loss, and when you don't have much to begin with ..well ...

You shouldn't be so judgemental, I was the one who wanted it, and my surgery just happened to land on valentines day, so we celebrate valentines day and booby anniversary.

best and worst were the same valentine's day.

2006:
The good: The first valentine's day I spent with my boyfriend. We watched Annie Hall and he bought me flowers. Very sweet.

The bad: I got into my first car accident that morning. All I remember was getting out of the car, sobbing, calling my dad, and leaving him a voicemail that said "Uhhhhh.. Happy Anniversary Dad" (My mom and dad got married on V-Day)..."I was just in an accident ::sob::".

I have never had a valentine so I guess that would be my worst.
How sad is that.
Some day I hope......

Best: two years ago, when hubby and I were in our 2nd year of being serious. He did this kind of scavenger hunt for me at work and home because I was having a really hard time emotionally. He left roses for me at all 3 posts at work. Just 2 each post with a little note, then I got home in the morning and he had a vase of pink roses on the tv with a note saying to follow the petal trail. From there it lead to the bedroom where a vase of a dozen roses of my fav color rose (yellow with orange tips) were sitting by my side of the bed and this wonderful note about how much he loved me and how he admired my strength and that he was so happy that we were together. It made me cry because I had never had experienced a love that strong before. We are now married, and our 1 year wedding anniversary will be the 4 year anniversary for us being together. :)
Worst: The Valentine's Day before I met my hubby. Craig had been trying to get me to go on a date with him and I just felt wierd, so I didn't(Craig is my hubby) I instead had a "blind" date. It was with a college guy that I met online and I thought he was what I wanted in a guy. Needless to say, I drove 1.5 hours to meet this guy, only to get stood up. I drove all the way back to my campus crying and got wasted with my college "brothers" It was so dissappointing. Guess I should have taken that date with Craig instead. All turned out well though, and I'm happier than I ever thought I could be.
To all those who don't have someone, keep your chin up!!! You never know when life will send you the perfect mate!!!

Worse: Valentine's Day 2001
Then (stupid) boyfriend didn't even buy me a card. When I mentioned no card, he said, "we can go to the store now and pick one out together if you'd like." DUH!!!

Best: Valentine's Day 2008
New hubby and I are struggling a little financially while I'm in school. Married last December and no honeymoon yet. He knows how much I want to go to Italy in the fall of '09. So this Valentine's Day, in addition to a nice card, he gave me an Italian/English dictionary and changed the wallpaper on the computer to Vernazza, Italy. Very simple but loving and effective. I now know how committed he is to my dream of our Italian honeymoon. What a great guy.
