Ways to slim your waist.
I know spot reducing doesn't really work, but there has to be some effective exercises I can to do slim my waist. I'm 5'5" and weigh about 135 pounds, but my waist isn't much smaller than my rib cage or hips. Do side bends do anything? Or twists? Any ideas?

Oh, and my abs are strong and fairly flat, so I don't need ab exercises. More like exercises for my sides, if that makes any sense.

You're a perfect weight for your height and have a flat stomach...I'm jealous!!
Chances are you're looking at the shape your genes have given you (the breadth of your floating ribs, for example), and there's not much point trying to change it.
Are you by any chance Asian? I just bring up race because most Asian women tend to have the shape you're describing...not sure about other races, I just know from having lived in that part of the world and they used to remark on my hourglass-ness, amongst other oddities.

go to t-tapp.com and see what she says about body types. Odds are you have long slender legs, but a wide waist. Some of us just will never have that narrow waist because of our bone structure.
personally, for keeping my torso in it's best shape, I like t-tapp, or the matthew's method.

No, I'm not Asian, and my legs are strong and muscular (I should be happy, but I love little petite legs...) Anyway, I'm fairly short-waisted and don't have a lot of room between my rib cage and hip bones. It would just be nice to have even a "little" hour-glass goin' on.

well from the sounds of it, it's not anatomically possible for you to have a real hourglass without cutting out a rib. So better to just be happy with what you were born with.

The rib removal actually sounds good... haha
I checked out the t-tapp site and got a few exercise ideas to try. Thanks 2:43!

2:43 here- I love her t-tapp twist move- not just for ab work, but man does my back creak and feel SO much better after.
the total work out for $70 was one of the best investments I've made in my health.
And I can understand the wanting to remove a rib. But at least you seem to understand that your personal anatomy means you may not wind up with a certain look you want. Too many women don't realise that...
