I'm 23 and have been having a very difficult time of managing my weight lately. I'm a vegetarian so you'd think I could eat healthfully but I don't. I work at a restaurant and I always snack on the food there. I've also been learning how to cook recently and when I cook, I eat! I work out regularly, usually 4-5 times a week. I do strength training and cardio but I can't lose weight because I eat so much. I can't wait to start losing!

I am 49 and a vegan. My partner (female) and I moved to Canada from the US on June 3rd. We want legal recognition of our relationship. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I used to have access to a scale where I worked out, but the recreation centre I joined here refuses to have scales. They think measuring is enough. I have not been as careful about eating, since I am not accountable.

I am a 45 y.o. mom of 2 teenagers, 1 of which I'm doing this with. She needs to lose about 50 lbs, so we are doing a little competition. Whoever loses 50 lbs first will get a prize of $50. She is 14 and loves to shop, so I thought this would be a good incentive. What I havent told her, is that even if I win the race, I'm going to let her win. And because we will both be losing weight, we will both win in the long run.

22 y.o. vegan in Adelaide, Australia. Enjoy learning about different things and keeping in touch with friends. Love riding and computers.

I am a 21 year old college student living on long Island. I went vegetarian nine months ago and havn't looked back since. I am a huge animals lover with 6 different types of pets and 21 total. I like to read and am about game for anything that sounds interesting. I read non-fiction, fiction, and comic books, fanfic, just about everything.

I'm an American married to an Aussie and living downunder. 43 years old, no kids, one dog. Most of my family is overweight so I'm pretty careful. Lost about 25 kgs (50 lbs) 13 years ago and have fluctuated over the years, but have maintained a good weight the last couple of years. I primarily eat a lowfat vegan diet and try to, at least, walk regularly, if not run.

I'm 60 years old, mother of one daughter, grandmother to two grandsons. When I saw my daughter's wedding pictures I was so ashamed of how I looked that I decided to FINALLY do something about it. This has not been a fast process for me. I had a lot of inner issues to work on, and it has taken a lot of time to work out a food and exercise program I can live happily with.

30 year old health care worker / artist with a weird schedule.

I was actually much healthier in college oddly enough. Worked out nearly every weekday (strength & cardio) and spent my weekends and breaks/holidays rock climbing. Then, the real world hit and I got tired. ;-] I work full-time, doing auditory processing research. I also go to school part-time, so finding the time & energy is very hard. My partner and I are both vegetarians and we want to try to have a baby in the next few years (I'd be the carrier), so that is our motivation to get back in shape.

I feel better about myself but I need the support that you guys will give! :). I updated my profile with new pictures it always amazes me how much I let myself slip back in the day. NEVER AGAIN. I am not perfect and I fall off the waggon sometimes but I always get back on.. 85 more lbs and I am going to be a sexy BIATCH!

I'm a 21 year old university student. I'm vegetarian/vegan.

I am a 23 year old working my first job out of college with long hours and lots of travel--making it difficult to eat well, and make it to the gym. Looking to lose 10-15 by putting my health, and hotel gyms first!

I'm an 18-yr student , hoping to lose the flab and weight that have been following me for years n to look and feel better bout myself.

love the outdoors: kayaking, hiking, camping, swimming, cycling

I'm a university student biology, and a vegetarian.

I am 25 years old and in the process of transitioning from graduate student to social entrepreneur. I returned to my "home" city after being away at university for 7 years. I am trying to reinvent myself and practice a lifestyle that is more aligned with my needs and values.

I'm in my mid-20s and am a vegetarian. I'm in grad school (again) and work part-time. I tend to obsess over things--and not in a good way!

I am a grad student. I have recently given up meat. I am a noob knitter. I just made myself a hoop and am having fun learning how to work it and practicing tricks.

My name is Ethan, and I'm a 17 year old vegetarian. I loves reading, cooking ( MY VICE! ), and playing computer games with friends.

I am 26 years old, a student and an administrative professional.

27 years, Grad Student, vegan, and recreational knitter.

Im a 20-year-old student. I've been struggling with my weight for years. I was able to lose 20lbs in high-school easily but gained it all back my freshman year in college. Now im having a difficult time loseing the weight agian.

I am 28 and in my last semester of law school. Over the last two years I have gained 22 pounds. Dieting has helped my creep the number down a bit, but I am easily distracted and I backslide. Dieting is not so bad if there are results, but I have little patience and no discipline. I attend a yoga class once a week and keep my caloric intake around 1600 calories daily. I am no longer a vegetarian, but mostly eat vegetarian with some fish and seafood.

Extreme computer geek, web developer and programmer. Total hermit, love my solitude and my dogs, but hoping to become less than I am by shedding long packed on pounds.

I'm 19 years old, and I love food, photography, and people. I have gone up and down since I was 15 with about 30-35 pounds and am sick of it. College didn't help, especially because I go to school in Malibu... with some super pretty thin people.

I'm a 21. I'm 5'9". I always feel like a giant because all my close friends are 5'5" or shorter (I'm an Amazon and they are my gnomies) and the extra weight isn't helping the size difference. I'm a "Pleasure Specialist" at a sex boutique. Most days I sit on my ass at a computer or reading, but I probably spend 2 days of the week scrambling around to get the inventory together. I like working out, but I hate the a-holes at the gym.

I'm 22. I officially weigh the most i have ever weighed. 142 pounds.

43 - Female. Two boys, both in their 20's and live away from me. My husband and I live in Florida with the two dogs (yes, of course we treat them like children now). My weight problem began to really worsen several years ago when I went back to school.....online. Not only did I sit at a computer all day at work, I repeated the same sitting routine at home for school. My eating habits worsened and as the stress increased of all the deadlines for work and school, I reacted by eating more. Last year I decided enough was enough and I had to get healthy. April 12 2006 I quit a two pack a day smoking habit. I am happy to report that I have not had slipped once in over a year with cigs. EATING replaced them! Now topping the scale at 188 lbs, (the most I have even weighed in my life, even when 9 months pregnant). I am ready to make changes and regain my life.

5-5" , 153 pounds. I am in mid 20s and I have a passion to snack. But I want to get over it and loose weight.

I'm 29 years old vegetarian who has been trying to lose weight for sometime now. I work at a fitness center and still have trouble motivating myself to get in shape. Right now I'm at the heaviest I have been at 157lbs. I would like to lose 25-30lbs and be able to maintain it.

I am 48, around 5' 9''. My job is sedentary which kind of sucks, but it's an enjoyable job, so I can't complain. I love travelling and camping, reading and relaxing, working out and unfortunately, eating too much junk food.

41 years old happily married with 3 very busy children. I work part time.

26 yr old, married,vegetarian

I am 31, single, lesbian, and a nurse. I work full-time in a physical rehabilitation hospital and am in school full-time -- double majoring in Nursing and English Literature. I am a strong woman that is finding a sense of contentment in life ... losing weight is now something I want for me and my health, not for "acceptance." Sounds like a cliché, but if the shoe fits ... :) I've been overweight my entire life, so I'm curious about how I would even look thinner. It also scares the hell out of me ... lol ... Curiousity is winning this fight!!

I am a 21 year old college student. I enjoy being with friends and family, running, reading, playing with my dogs, and going out.

38- Vegetarian since 1997- Federal Employee with too much cubicle time\computer time-

I'm 35 yo, piano and yoga teacher, artist, musician, student (third time around!) and single mom to a 12 year-old boy. I broke my ankle in May 2007 from skating with the local women's roller derby team. I've been active for most of my life, up until my ankle break. I've been a runner and a soccer player. I love yoga, swimming, hiking, walking, going to the gym, etc. etc.

I am 48 years old and a senior high school teacher. I have three girls ages 19 and 17&17. (Yes, twins.) I have been together with my husband for I think it is 31 years. I have an Aphenpinscer who is 9 months old. FYI: I live in the Pacific time zone and I am approximately 60km from Vancouver, BC. home of the 2010 winter olympics.

I'm vegan! Yeah me! I have been for 9 years! :) Oh... I'm 28 years old. I'm also a teacher and I have three children. Plus, I'm married! Wow! I'm busy!

I am 47-years-old. I have two podcasts--I never thought that I would ever get people to listen to me but it's really fun and I am getting more listeners all the time, who'd a thunk? I also have mad Photoshop skills and work in a photo lab. I have two beautiful and brilliant daughters--one in college and one in middle school and a sweetheart of a husband who is the perfect man for me. I also perform in a local Rocky Horror cast as Dr. Frank-n-furter, Riff Raff or Magenta (our cast obviously isn't screen-accurate).

High school Senior, Vegetarian

26 years old, married to my college sweetheart, and I have a new 12 month old bundle of joy! I lost 74lbs before becoming pregnant. I lost the baby weight and now need to lose the extra!

What can I say? I'm 23, vegetarian, recently married, and my metabolism ain't what it used to be. They say that newlyweds always gain weight after their wedding, and I believe it!

I'm from San Francisco but living in the UK for another year with my Brit husband. I have been a vegetarian for almost a year and I cook all my own food. I want to get rid of my extra pounds I put on over the last 2 years! I want to feel better about myself and fit into my size 6's again. I want to stick with working out instead of falling off track again.

Married mom of 2 children whom I homeschool. Work full time as houseparent to 13 teenagers. Love my job being a "full-time mom". But as a mom, it is difficult to stay healthy. There always seems to be a good reason to not find me time to exercise....and eating healthy is a challenge....This is something I need to do for me...and really be committed to.

single, 34, and i'd like to have more strength and confidence. recovering from sciatica, doing part time studies in textiles, and an avid knitter.

I am a married almost 30 years old chick living in the NC Mountains. After reading "Skinny Bitch", my husband and I decided to watch what we eat a lot closer and become vegetarians.

I enjoy a lot of sedentary activities as well as excercise. Howver, I'm a busy college student and don't know if I'll have time to add stuff to this website everyday. I've been on a 1000 to 1200 calorie diet for the past week, which is supposed to allow you to lose a pound a day. However, it isn't working yet as I am still 135. Any suggestions?

I am 5'5, 150 lbs. I do not look fat at all. I love my body, but not when im in a bikini. I am very built everywhere. I am a dance major! but i look more like a girl that plays softball, or gymnastics. I love everything about me and my life, except i just can't drop the extra weight!

Psych Student and former military who wants to get back in the saddle after an ankle injury. I would like to maintian a Vegan diet and grow a way of life from that philosphical thinking. I love photography, psychology, traveling and outdoor activities. I love life and I have a passion to lear about it as much as I can. Laughing and loving life is part of everything I do....

My name is Christina. I am 15. I weigh 235 lbs. [[for now]] I want to lose 100 at least. :] I have already lost 10 lbs. I love everything about myself except for my stupid fat. If i were to lose weight, i would be so much happier. :]] I want to be a model/photographer/screamer/directer/painter/doctor/activist/travler. haha. but most of all i want to be a hair and makeup stylist. :] I love music. After i workout, i am relaxed and happy.

I am 27, Female, Married. I have a stressfull job - I work around 11 hrs a day (1 hr commute). My job requires me to sit in front of the computer all day. I have zero energy when i get home to hit the gym. Since I have taken up this job, I have packed around 20 lbs! (Yeah!).

I'm a 35-yr old female living in Columbus, Ohio. I have spent 1/2 my life in OH & 1/2 in TX (prefer TX bc it's so warm & sunny). Divorced 3 years ago & now have a wonderful man who supports me fully. I love animals, reading, the internet, Indian, Mexican, & Greek foods. I work for a big box store as a team lead, so I'm always on my feet & don't exercise nearly enough when I'm off.

I'm a down-to-earth fab female who cares about people and animals. I'm a certified life coach and marketing strategist. I got remarried last year to a great guy and we're trying to get preggers. I also have a 19-yr-old daughter who's amazing. I enjoy yoga, hiking, film, hockey and getting a great massage. I'm definitely a "foodie" who loves to cook and eat out at privately owned eateries.

I just went vegan after some time if being a vegetarian. my body can't handel milk products anymore so the next step just seemed to make sense.

I guess it's time to do a little updating, although there really isn't much to do update. I am 31 years old now and currently not working and having a hard time finding a job which really makes me feel depressed. Which isn't a good thing when you're trying to lose weight in my opinion.

20 year old college student

I am 35 years old. Married for 10 years to dh and have 2 sons aged 7 and 3. Work full-time as educational consultant. Overweight since childhood. Lost weight in highschool. Constant struggle. Want to lose 25 pounds.

54 years old (for a few more weeks). Got beyond my upper ceiling of acceptable weight after the end of a long relationship a few years ago and just can't take it off. I did take 10 pounds off by seeing a nutritionist, but gained it back. Have done Weight Watchers multiple times in the past and doesn't seem to stick for the long term.

24 yr. old full time pre- dental student. I fell out of my healthy eating and fitness habits when i quit my job and went back to school this fall and gained about 10 lbs. i'm looking to lose that weight i put on plus get rid of about 10 more pounds.

I am funloving, but more workaholic. MY office is 400 metres from my house. Sometimes like to take my car to the office, just because it is too cold. I do study a lot other than office hours. Finally, i am 31 years old, Indian origin, living in US for the past 5 years.

pescatarian

I'm a 26f with a mostly sedentary job looking to break out of the aerobics/gym rut. I'm just now starting a fitness routine again and eating better, but it would be nice to do other fitness activities w/ other people for motivation.

24. Wife. Mother.

26yo living in Philly

I'm a 22-year-old college student. I currently work as a CSR in a chain retail store. I recently received a diploma from vocational school, and now I'm in "real" college working on a nutritional science degree. I'm engaged, broke, and trying really hard to be as healthy as I possibly can be.

Forty something, married, mother of two adult daughters. Vegetarian approximately 10 months. The last year my body has seen some drastic changes. In June I quit a 20 year pack a day smoking habit, a month later, intending to participate in Meatless Mondays, I ended up going vegetarian. Last month I made the full jump to vegan. While I'm more than pleased with my choices, and am careful to get all the nutrients I need, the fact is my lifestyle is sedentary. I used to hike and quit smoking to make the hiking easier. But somewhere along the line I gained twenty pounds and lost energy and motivation to move. I quit smoking and went vegan for a healthier, happier me as well as a healthier planet, but the extra pounds and loss of energy feel anything but healthy or happy.

Dangerously close to 30, married, no kids, heading back to school soon for 2nd career, love to cook but often don't have the time, my hubby's my personal chef and nutrition guru and without him I would eat nothing but frozen pizzas and baked potatoes.

I am 44, married, no children, one cat and I'm a vegetarian. Just finished grad school. Had a very stressful couple of months at work were I packed on the pounds (three months on the road-eating out three times a day - it was fun at first). Need to get rid of the excess baggage around my middle.

I've been a vegetarian for almost 3 years. I'm young and want to just get rid of my extra weight so it isn't bugging me when i'm out on a date or something (laugh!). I LOVE animals and try as hard as i can to convince people to go the vegetarian or vegan way.

21, vegetarian, would like to lose 32-35 lbs. working two jobs and being a full-time student makes it difficult to always eat healthy/fit in gym time. moving to the west coast in one year, would like to reach goal weight by october 2009.

I’m 24 from kent, England. I’m trying to get healthy and active & loose 1 or 2 stone. I’ve always done faddy diets before, which fail after a few weeks if not days, and i’ve gotten into the cycle of beating myself up over failing diets, emotional eating etc etc. This is the first time i’ve lot weight through healthy eating and exercise (i‘ve lost about 3 stone since January this year and have another 1 or 2 to go). I don’t want to be counting calories, but i’d like to keep a check on here of what i’m eating and what exercise i’m doing, to keep me motivated and maybe meet a few new people. I love to cook, mainly healthy food, tho i make a fabulous cheesecake. I have the odd treat, but still find it a bit hard not to beat myself up about it afterwards... but hopefully i’ll get there. I try and get to the gym about 3 times a week, i also do swimming when i can and i’ve just invested in a Pilates dvd. I’m trying to start running but i’m finding it a real struggle and not a pleasurable experience if i’m honest, I‘ve completed a 5 mile and a 5k run but i walked about half of both, its something i’d really like to do so i’m going to persist with it. I’ve applied for the london marathon next year and am going to do the ASPIRE swim the channel challenge in September.

I am a 5' 2", 38 year "young", lacto-vegetarian East Asian (Indian) woman, who has slowly but surely crept back up to a whopping 152 lbs, the heaviest I've ever been! I take full responsibilty for my present physical state, and attribute it entirely to my mind-less eating habits, poor food choices and phycially inactive/somewhat sedentrary lifestyle. It's no longer about merely suriving - it's all about "thriving" now!

I'm a 21 year old philosophy undergraduate. Asian (chinese), and a recent convert from pescetarianism to vegetarianism. I used to be an athlete (till i was 16). After I stopped training, I went up from 105lbs to a high of 130lbs in about 3 years, due to bad dietary habits (junk food addiction) and a pretty much sedentary lifestyle. Lost 5lbs after I started eating less junk, and another 10lbs from diet (about 1500cals/day)+exercise. Trying to maintain my weight now, and improve my health and fitness in general by eating right and exercising regularly but not excessively. My interests include art (painting especially), movies (the arty farty types), literature (i usually avoid horrors, thrillers, chick-lit... the mainstream stuff) and music (i've been through many phases. but i can say for certain that i'm just incapable of appreciating hip hop, dance and trance music.) I also like supermarket-browsing.

I'm 27 & married w/ a four yr. old little girl.

I am a 30 year old vegetarian, engaged to a competitive cyclist and I just started running. I have about 20-25 pounds to lose, and I would like to do so before my wedding next year.

I'm a pescatarian. College student. Economics with German minor. I graduate this May. I'm married and love dogs =D Oh, and I'm hypoglycemic.

i'm 20 years old, turning 21 next month I will be a senior in college this fall I'm working as a legal intern for the summer

I'm a 26 year old recent college graduate currently working for a law firm in Oregon. I gradually gained some weight in college and really started chubbin up with an office job. Too much sitting.

I joined peertrainer in April of 08 and have lost about 20 pounds so far. My current weight hovers around 180 but I would love to see that number drop in 2009.

I feel so much better about myself when I am working hard in all areas of my life, and maintaining good health should top the list! I want to be the best I can be, not some chubby girl who sits in an office all day wishing she had a life. Heckkkk no.

"I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass." - Maya Angelou

Well i'm a freshman in college and i didn't really think the whole freshman 15 would get to me... but it did. I just want to keep active while adjusting to my new lifestyle and shed the pounds i've gained in the past month.

I am a sophomore in college majoring in music education and french. I play clarinet, I love to sing, and I'm socially an introvert. I run track and play soccer, and am on the club track team at UMD. I do long jump, triple jump, and the 4x100 relay.

I am 37 years old;, 5'8" in height; BMI 30; weigh 195 lbs as of 9 July 2008. I would like to lose about 40 pounds.

I have been heavy since about 12. I am not exactly sure what happened then but since I have been 210 lbs give or take. I am active, I eat well, I have a great life! Both of my parents are diabetic and I am scared that I will end up with serious health problems as I age. I also LOVE fashion and have made a lot of my clothes in the past. I don't mind, but, would love to be able to buy really fashionalbe clothing from stores and have it fit properly.

30-plus working professional...and mom. Returned to the gym end of December 2011 and trying to get back on track. Goal is to get back to eating right and stay motivated with my workouts. Need motivation (from you all) to diet/eat healthy.

I'm a 21 year old college graduate. I'm a vegetarian which means it's hard for me to stay away from carbs. I love to dance and play softball but with my busy schedule I find it very hard to do much excercising.

I am 16 and going to attend college this year. I want to start taking care of my body now and just maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I currently weigh 146.6 Lbs. I just had my baby girl 3 months ago , but i feel like maintaining my weight is very important, but also important to me is being here for my family when theyr children are born, & my children get married. It seems so far away, but it happens so quickly with time. I still may be 146 lbs & i just had a baby, but that is no excuse not to change my habbits to better ones. I hope that this online site helps me keep motivated & hopefully i get the support i need to keep strong, since i cant really go out as i want to work out with 2 small chidren at home.

I am 23, and a vegetarian. I hit my highest weight of 180 recently and seeing recent pictures of myself is a real wake up call.

vegetarian living in Seoul, teaching English, sit at work all day and i've packed on the pounds in the past two years due to feeling disconnected culturally and socially ~ now is the time for it to end! this year i'm gonna do whatever it takes to get connected~!

I'm 24 years old, about 5ft 6 and as a result of illness recently gained a lot of weight. I've managed to lose about half of it now but am really struggling with this last little bit. I'm fairly active but find it hard not to eat the same food as my (skinny) partner which probably doesn't do me any favours. Oh, I live in the UK :)

I'm 17 and live in WI (middle of nowhere mind you). I am a big band nerd who is involved in countless band/orchestra/solo/ensemble activities as is my boyfriend. I am big into reading and playing video games. I ski when I have time to, which isn't very often and I work as a cashier at Pick 'n Save to help pay for college when it come time to. I tend to be very busy because of all the advanced classes I am taking and don't feel incredible motivated to workout when I could just more easily relax after a 3 hour band practice.

I am 43 years old. Two years ago, I had hit my goal of 122 pounds, but got back into my old eating habits, and have now gained a lot of weight back. I now find that I need help to try to get the weight off again.

I'm young, married, no kids and I don't want any, complete animal lover, full-time student, trying to get my life together after a fairly big move to a fairly large city.

Howdy! I’m a 19 year-old university student/ holistic health practitioner

I guess you could say I'm a very artsy kind of gal. I love almost everything, whether it be history or fantasy. I love being imaginative and to pretend. So I was very lucky to be blessed with two nieces that I can share that with. That was my whole reason to start eating healthier so I can be there longer for them and to enjoy the memories feeling nice and healthy. Anyways I plan to go to college for makeup. Such as a makeup artist specifically for movies. I am vegetarian! I enjoy eating all recipes for tofu and would love suggestions in new recipes. Please feel free to add me I would love to find people who have similar goals so we can inspire eachother for a healthier beginning.

Graduate student and substitute teacher

I am a very active 42 year old with two girls (8 & 10). I am not overweight, but I have gained some weight in the last few years I would like to lose. I am finding it harder to lose weight than it was in my 30's. I need some new tricks and/or motivation!
