The 100-mile Diet -Has anyone tried it?

I just came across an article on the 100-mile diet. The premise is that you should eat foods that were grown within 100 miles of where you live. This helps support local farmers, decrease dependance on petroleum b/c it's shipped shorter distances, and food tastes better because it's grown for taste, not for preservation while shipping.
I live in California, so in theory this should be easier for me b/c we have so much great produce and agriculture within 100 miles.

I wouldn't mind trying this for a couple weeks. It would be hard because it would only consist of non processed food (unless you know all the ingredients and processing was within 100 miles) Should I start a team? Would anyone join me?
