to whoever runs CVS: the candy at childrens eye level at checkout is your problem, not mine.

Candy, it seems, is enjoyed by children. And children tend to be shorter than adults. At the checkout of most drug stores, and CVS specifically, they seem to be about the *ideal* height for kids to see each different type of candy, to grab the candy and to demand the parent or caregiver buy the candy.

Now, as CEO or senior executive of CVS corporation, you know that consumers/parents are there to purchase your products. When we do, and the kids simultaneously grab the candy, you and your extensive staff have a choice.

You can instruct the staff to yell at the (typically exhausted parent). You can have the staff attempt to upsell the candy, to add it to the cart or basket. Or you can instruct the staff to leave the parent alone and clean up the mess later- knowing that a parent over the child rearing years will spend a PILE of money at CVS on diapers, formula, perscriptions, magazines, toys, play doh, etc etc.

You also know that Walgreens is often right near by, even NEXT DOOR.

But it is your choice in the end, and something you might want to add to the next management meeting. Little details like this can help build loyalty, or destroy it. I also understand that staff training might not be a huge priority due to turnover, but I have this gut feeling that what comes around goes around.
