Does Anyone Else Struggle With This?

A situation came up yesterday that really bothered me. I was disappointed and frustrated because it’s out of my control, and I did some major emotional eating. Initially, the eating is for comfort. It starts with something innocent like a 100 calorie pack of chocolate covered pretzels. Then 2 packs, then 5 mint cookie joys @ 50 calories each, and then my family and I start planning dinner out at a Chicago-style pizza restaurant. (575 calories per slice - I had 1 ½ slices) By the end of the night, we picked up DQ Blizzards on the way home, and a few more mint cookie joys right before bed! What is wrong with me??? The “comfort” I get from food turns into total self-abuse. I feel sick from all of the food, and obviously disgusted with myself. The Blizzard didn’t even taste good, but I kept shoveling it in. I feel like an alcoholic who falls of the wagon and goes on a drinking binge! I wonder if I’ll ever get complete control of this bad habit? I’ve lost over 70 pounds, so it’s clearly happening less often, but I’d love to be able to eliminate it completely. Now today, early in the morning, I still feel so gross and full, but once that passes, it’ll be tempted to continue the abuse and go back for more sweets. Does anyone else behave like this? Has anyone completely, 100% eliminated this behavior from their lives? Is there hope for me?!
