Help! I have lost 90 lbs ... but can't seem to lose anymore!
Ok so here is my problem, hopefully you can help!
I have always been overweight, but even so I extremely active in high school. I played volleyball, basketball, softball, track and lifted weight with the power lifting team. Every sport seasons during school I would be working out anywhere from 4-6 hours a day. Then I would do summer sport leagues to keep in the sports mentality. Even with all this exercise I weighed about 240 lbs.
I did finally lose weight in high school when I began eating small meals every 2 hours up until 6 o’clock and then walking for about 30 minutes on top of my sports activity. I lost about 35 lbs on my own and then another 35 lbs by continuing what I was doing but also taking phentermine. I stopped taking phentermine I gained back DOUBLE the weight that I had lost, because it wasn’t a lifestyle change for me. That the fact I graduated and stopped working out like I did in high school and thinking I could eat anything I want sky rocketed me to this…..
I started off weighing 345 lbs back in February 2009. I have been depressed about my weight for a long time and I started to see the beginning signs of serious health problems, so I decided to FINALLY do something about it. I started off watching what I ate for a few months, didn’t really change eating, just started to realize how huge my portions were. Maybe lost a couple lbs nothing much, then after a couple months I started to count calories of the food I ate, then I started watching calories AND eating healthier. I lost about 65 lbs from February 2009 – October 2009. Then I started to watch calories, eat healthy AND exercise. From October 2009 – December 2009 I lost about 15 lbs. January 2010 – March 2010 I have only lost like 10lbs.
So my overall weight loss is about 90 lbs. I am currently 255 lbs 5’11 and 23 years old. I still have like 85 lbs to go and I feel like I have hit a 4-5 month long plateau. I am not taking any pills this time or doing and FAD dieting. I have chosen to make a lifestyle change because I want this to be the end of my weight problems.
Every day I have approximately 1200-1500 calories because if I try to do my recommended calories for losing weight (2200) I put on weight. I workout 3-4 times a week usually jogging on a treadmill for 30 min or doing an aerobic workout with weights. I have like 70 grams of protein a day, have yogurt fruit and vegetables, drink like 10 8oz glasses of water if not more, and don’t eat after 6:30 pm.
All this considering I have been eating great for the last 2 weeks, even did more jogging than I normally do, lifted more weights and made sure I didn’t have anything unhealthy on the weekend, (sometimes I will let myself splurge and eat later at night or have a piece of pizza on the weekend) … I stepped on the scale and lo and freakin behold I LOST NO WEIGHT!!!! After all that effort! It seems like I just can’t lose any more weight!
I have went to the doctor and had all my hormone, thyroid and other levels checked out and I am just fine.
So why am I having such a hard time losing weight now, especially when I am working out harder than I have before?!?
on a side note I do eat the same thing every day, dont know if that matters or not ....
