Fat March chat

I just watched the opening episode online and I love how winning is not related to weight loss the way it is in The Biggest Loser. I like how healthy food is provided but does not seem to be rigidly controlled portions (though I could be wrong - this show doesn't seem to focus a whole lot on that). It totally sucks that they have to camp though, because a good night's sleep is worth its weight in gold when you need to be in top form.

At first it annoyed me that the voted-off 500+ pound guy commented at the end about how he'd be happy if he could "just" lose half his weight in the next 6 months. Like losing 260 pounds in half a year was some kind of watered-down consolation goal. However, on second thought, it's probably a realistic depiction of how and why an awful lot of people fail. I mean, someone who thinks a monthly weight loss of 45 lbs is a reasonable expectation knows less than nothing about how to be healthy. What a shame this man took nothing away from his 8-day experience except a pair of tortured tootsies.

Your thoughts?
