What would you do if your friends always wanted...

you to be the designated driver?

I don't drink alcoholic beverages but I occasionally go into bars and have sparkling water with citrus wedges, just to be sociable with the people I've been friends with since high school.

Lately my friends have wanted to go out drinking every Friday & Saturday night and they've called me to be the designated driver. Yesterday I told one of them that I'm tired of hanging around sloppy drunks who act stupid, throw up at my feet, and take me for granted. I said I'm not going out with them this weekend.

I've been getting phone calls from all 4 of them just about all day at work today, begging me to change my mind. Not once has any of them said how much they like me, or value our friendship, or enjoy my company. All they're worried about is who is going to drive once they're all smashed. I suggested they all pitch in for a cab, and they all think I'm being "really mean and uncooperative."

So I'm seriously thinking about kicking them all to the curb. I can't come up with one reason to call any of them "friend" anymore.

What would you do?
