New diet strategy - Invisalign!?!

I just started using Invisalign (the clear product that goes over your teeth and corrects them, like braces.) I actually just started this morning, but I think it's going to be a fantastic diet aid! (and no, that is NOT why I got them - I just want to straighten my teeth!)

Having them on makes my teeth/gums ache, like braces, as they're moving my teeth. You have to take them off in order to eat or drink (except water), and then brush your teeth before putting them back on, and you're supposed to wear them 22 hours a day.

Today, so far, I took them off for breakfast and then brushed my teeth and put them back on. Then, I ended up waiting an extra hour before I went to go get lunch, and all I wanted is a cup of soup, which I'm eating very slowly as my teeth are sore - even though soup and all the stuff (noodles) in it is soft. Having the Invisalign in my mouth is a little bit amusing, if a bit painful, and it's making me not even feel like snacking, b/c my mouth already feels busy! I'm not even looking forward to having pizza tonight with some friends (pre-arranged), b/c it's such a pain to eat!

Has anyone else had Invisalign and had a similar experience? Did it keep you from snacking? I don't know if it's just b/c I'm new to it or not, but just wanted to see if anyone has had similar experiences.

Also, if others had been putting off fixing their teeth (I put it off for like 5 years!), maybe this'll be the extra encouragement to do it!

Guess we'll see if I'm still optimistic in a week!
