snow running

Hello all! I was curious as to some tips for running in the snow...like say 3 inches tops on the sidewalks and an inch of slush on roads for example. I was disappointed to find a pretty good amount of freshly fallen snow after work this evening but persevered and ran 5k this evening...it was pretty fun actually but could use some tips to make snow running more enjoyable..any experts out there? :) I was a summer/fall runner and winter/spring treadmill girl until I tried it out this winter..and could never imagine hopping on the treadmill again! Nothing quite like the open road...running with my doggy partner! :) Oh yeah and what about time...I am hoping that training in these less than optimal conditions is going to help with my time come clear roads!! :) looking forward to some great feedback!
