At the age of 23 I am starting my second year of graduate school at the University of Maryland College Park. I have been dealing with the stresses of being a fulltime student in a new city and have found it easy to eat/drink whatever I want (NOT GOOD). I am a vegetarian that loves sugar, cheese and drinking. I guess I have a problem with eating too much of the "bad carbs". I starting "running" a little bit in college and would love to complete a half-marathon sometime in the Fall. Unfortunately I don't have an excercise routine so I tend to skip the runs and head straight for the fridge. I need to be pushed toward making reasonable goals (running 5-6 times a week, adding distance each week, skipping the candybars) and and a push to keep striving for them even if I fall.

I've recently quit my job to be a stay at home dad. I'm really looking forward to it but I really want to go into it being fit. It'll be healthier for me and healthier for the baby if I am. Also I'm tired of carrying around this extra weight and not feeling comfortable in my own skin. In 2000, I lost 40lbs but due to various factors (I was in the military and I deployed after 9/11 and all the weight came back on during the deployment, plus I sort of just lost my way with eating right recently) I gained it all back. Now I'm getting myself back on the wagon and regaining that hard core self-control that I know I have in me.

I'm 30 and used to be very active but put on 40 pounds in a relationship and subsequent break-up. Now relocated, accepted to a new university and started a fresh leg of my life I really want to get healthy not just for the appearance but also for the health factor. I need some moral support and that's why I'm here!

34 YO female, no children, engaged to an intelligent, kind, funny, and wonderfully weird (not to mention handsome) man, who is a video game designer. :) He's not even going to see this either... LOL I recently finished my graduate degree (MSEd in Health Promotion) and just accepted a full time position as an education specialist. I overcame bulimia in Spring 2004 and have since been on a journey to be healthier, treat myself right, and hopefully lose some weight and get fit in the process! Weight has fluctuated from 117-165+? (I'm 5'2 1/2").

I am a 48 year old server from the Cleveland, OH area. I started running 5 years ago when I developed breast cancer. I stopped smoking at this time as well. When I stopped drinking on Thanksgiving of 2006 my running improved rapidly.

I'm 27, married & have a 1 1/2 year old son. I am very lucky that I have a job that allows me to work from home, but I have found that since being at home I'm now having a hard time getting motivated to go to the gym. I played basketball in college for a team which was nationally ranked in our division and was in great shape, but between marriage and a recent pregnancy I am overweight & very upset about it. I've gotta get back into shape. I love playing volleyball, basketball, softball, going to the gym, spending time with my husband & new baby, love doing anything outdoors--hiking, camping, fishing, boating, etc. I'd love to meet others who are around the same age & dealing with the same issues as me. I don't have many people to talk to about my weight & my husband doesn't understand how hard it is for me to lose weight. He's naturally athletic, muscular & skinny...he never has to diet.

I'm a 27yo female and a newlywed. Now that I have time to breath and am no longer planning a wedding, buying a home, or proving myself at my job I have time to focus on myself and my body. My hubby lives fitness and is training to run the 26.2 mile marathon with a friend and I want to share this big part of his life with him. Running is out of my comfort zone and will be a rewarding challenge. I'm psyched and ready to go!

I'm a 41 year old female from Honolulu, Hawaii, and have struggled with my weight for about 15 years. I enjoy reading, and believe it or not, love to watch Nascar on tv. I also enjoy watching and/or volunteering at local races.

In 1997, I was overweight. I started running 1 minute and walking 1 minute. It was the hardest thing to do. I kept increasing my time. I ran a 5km race then eventually a 10km race. Then I researched and found 1/2 marathons and marathons.
I entered my first 1/2 marathon a year from when I started running. I lost 50 lbs as well.
Since then I have run 3 marathons
BUT...I have also gained the 50 lbs and another 20lb.
By signing up for the 1/2 marathon, my intention was to find that part of me that was on the right track. Somehow I got derailed.

I'm a journalist. I live and work in NYC. I enjoy backpacking in northern New England (finished the NH 48 4Ks in 2004 and I'm now tackling the New England 67 -- 64 down, three more to go, all in Baxter State Park). I also golf, trail run, do road races and workout in the gym.

i am 30 years old, but i honestly feel like 24. i went back to school two years ago to do my masters. right now i am pugging away at writing my thesis- so a lot of sitting around, staring at he PC screen and dreaming of all the nice things i could be doing instead (mhm having another hot chocolate?).
i love the outdoors and running usually keeps me from going mentally insane. Nevertheless, i am an incredible slowpoke- i finished two half marathons half a year ago, right after the winner of the 65-75 age group :o)... i hope with some more running and a few pounds less i can make a half a wee bit faster

I'm a high school math teacher; a martial artist with a 1st degree black belt in karate; an aspiring Personal Trainer; and someone who used to be 100 pounds overweight and is now a mere 15 :)
I had reached my goal before my Black Belt test and have gained weight due to the relaxing of my training. A part of my training was my following the Eating Clean diet by Tosca Reno.

Inherited weight issues from both mother and father (mom's been battling the diet dragon since she was ten, dad has body image and emotional eating issues he may never admit to). The last 20 or so years have been a roller coaster of yo-yo dieting - crazy weightloss fads which finally landed me at 277 in summer of 2006. I started taking it off gradually then, but had only got about 10 pounds off the scale by the time I finally got serious around my birthday in 2008.
