I have a question about this -
I am active - 5-6 days of cardio including 1 or 2 days of intense skiing. On my days off does my caloric need drop to the "inactive" level (about 1700 cal) or does my metabolism keep it at that "active" level (about 2700 cal)? Since I am losing weight I try to stay at 1700 or lower everyday, but I was wondering if I should be eating even less on the days I dont do cardio.

If you want to keep the same calories you're eating, do HIIT or serious circuit training the day before your day off from the gym. Those types of workout boost your BMR by about 25% for the next 24 hours...and that translates to like 400 calories. I know people with gadgets like the Bodybugg (has its own thread) who have seen this phenomenon in real, personal numbers.
