meditation for weight loss?
Has anyone lost weight through meditation? I struck on this idea just this week ... that I should meditate throughout the day to reduce emotional overeating.

I think it's a fabulous idea! Just based upon how I feel after yoga class and times when I've used the breathing techniques outside of class to calm anxiety, I think it would be very effective in dealing with emotional eating. Good luck!

Absolutely! Meditation is one of my strategies for tuning in and it helps tremendously during times of stress.

Yes I have lost weight with meditation
Actually I not only meditate/visualized about losing weight but I also did a few other mindful techniques in hopes that I could clear the burdens of my past and change the attitude of the ever present 'inner critic', well it worked thank god. I just started a blog that will explain all of this. The url is actually my name in the username of this comment. I am searching for other like minded people that would like to chat more about this so if you visit my site then you can find my contact info there. Have a great day!

I'd LOVE to lose weight meditating.... I know it does streamline the activities for the day....

I think it's a great idea. If you have been following Oprah through her magazine this year (possibly the show as well, I never get a chance to see it), she has been addressing her weight gain. Rather than making a goal of losing X amount of pounds, she has committed to becoming more aware and conscious of what she is using food for. She suggested meditating for one minute in Jan, adding a minute each month (apparantly for beginners) so that by the end of the year you would have a practice of meditating for 12 minutes.

meditation sounds really effective, I have been struggling hard with late night eating. I had lost a bunch of weight and now its coming back. To counter this I am really trying to focus on positive inner monologue. I can sit quietly breath deeply and think about my goal while the sensation to eat passes.
I wish everyone a healthy mind and heart

I don't usually recommend products, but for those of you who would like to begin meditating and don't know where to start, these CD's are great. I haven't tried the weight loss ones, but am sure that they are as good as the ones I have tried.
I'm linking the weight loss ones:
