why is conditioner important- do you use it?

I'm a shampoo only kind of person- doesn't conditioner add more junk to the hair?

I find I hate shampoo only, it makes my hair feel stringy and tangled. Conditioner makes my hair soft and easier to brush and just generally better conditioned.

i agree with 6:43, and even with my hair short i couldn't get a comb through it without conditioning.

Conditioner helps to fill in what your hair is lacking. Well certain ones do anyway.
Personally I can't handle my hair without it. It is just too tangled a mess.
Oh it also helps to protect it from damage due to sun, wind, heat.......

Most shampoos are light conditioners with detergent in it. I don't mean like dish detergent but a cleansing product. The creamier the shampoo the more moisturized it will leave your hair. So if you don't have dry, frizzy hair you could be alright with just shampoo. But many hair types need the extra moisturization without any cleansing in it. WIthout conditioner, my hair is tangly, rough, frizzy and brittle. I could probably reduce that problem by only washing once a week, but I use styling products in my hair that need washed out regularly, not to mention the sweat from working out. So because of our frequent bathing lifestyles, conditioner is nessecary for a lot of women to keep their hair from being dry, just like many women need a facial moisturizer. If you think conditioner is adding "junk", perhaps you just need to rinse more thoroughly or try a less creamy formula.

COnditioner is a god-send!! Don't knock it till you try it!
I can't convince my mom to use it, but have to listen to her whine about how quickly her hair color washes out or how unshapely her hair is....DUH, conditioner!!!
