exercise late at night?

now that I am working out at night, I find that I have a hard time getting to sleep, even after a hot shower or bath. Any tips to get to sleep after a workout?

working out at night makes you alert, speeds your heart rate, and usually disrupts your natural sleep rythm. When usually, your body would be preparing for sleep, slowing its metabolism, slowing your breathing and heart rate, you rile it up again. You will find that this may not be beneficial to you. Sleep is one of the most important things for your health. Don't work out before sleep, it's not worth it.

I have found that to be true. I ran the night before and was up until midnight. It is great if you have stuff to do after you run, but if you are trying to go to sleep forget it. I took me about 3 hours before I was finally able to go to sleep. Now I try to run in the early evening, at the latest instead of late at night.

I agreee! I have ben working out at night for a long while. However now that i need ot go back to school and am teaching i need ot stay awake and not want to doze off every few hours. I worked out last night and i was awak until 1:#0 in the a.m. This made me sleep in and i barely made it in on time to teach this morning. I am going to be right now (10:45 p.m.) and aiming to get up at 4:30 tomorrow to work out and get ready for work on time. Lets see how it goes.

Can you do like 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night? It won't keep you up !

Wow, I have no problem falling asleep an hour after finishing a workout. The only possible suggestion I can think to make is that it's more important than usual to make sure you don't skip the cool-down part of your session.

The odd night when I have a problem, I've got my trusty little bottle of melatonin caps - 20 minutes and I'm zonked.
