Buying new clothes

How often do you buy new clothes as you lose weight? I am far from my goal weight, but my clothes are starting to fall off, and they look very sloppy. I need to get some smaller clothes, but I really can't afford to buy new clothes every time I lose 5 or 10 lbs.
Any suggestions?

Congrats!

That's great that you've lost enough to need new clothes!

What I've done in the past is hit resale shops, good will/salvation army stores, and go to stores that have deep discounts (Marhalls & TJ Maxx sales racks). Then, if I can't find something that I need as a staple in my wardrobe (ex. black dress pants for work), then I will buck up and hit a regular store for them.

Another option is Ebay. You can find cheap clothes on there too.

Good luck and happy cheap shopping!

I buy a bunch of clothes second-hand on Craigslist. It depends on how big a city you live in, the bigger ones will have more selection. But, for example, yesterday, I bought a pair of pants for $7, and two tank tops for $2 each, all in almost-new condition.

Also, if I have something that'd be expensive to replace, like a suit or nice skirt, I'll get it tailored. I'd rather spend $40 to get it tailored than $200 to replace it!

Finally, I find friends to do clothing swaps. Even if you're not the same size, you'd be surprised how many people certain clothes will fit. My sister is about 5" taller than me, 30lbs heavier, and a completely different body shape (she has no boobs/hips, and I have plenty), and we can share almost everything, except long pants.
