Feeling hungry after eating fruit

I like to have fruit as a mid day snack, but I find that I'm often just ravenous after I eat fruit. Is this common?

this is very common for many people because it is often not enough to satisfy you. I recommend eating it with some form of protein and focus on high fiber fruits like pears and strawberries.

An apple always makes me so much more hungrier than I was before eating it.

I too can not eat apples for the same reason. I find that if I eat them half hour later Im starving worse then before I ate it.

As my friend's trainer says, "Fruit is not a meal." It's fine to finish off your lunch with fruit. Have it with a bit of protein otherwise - a handful of nuts and seeds, perhaps? That should do it, snackwise...

Non fat cottage cheese mixed with diced up fruit is delicious and sticks to your ribs. Add a couple of broken up walnuts and you will have real staying power...that way you get carbs, protein and good fats....and your blood sugar won't crash.

fruit can irritate one's stomach

Ooooh, I have that problem with apples, and it has _nothing_ to do with satiety. It has to do with being mildly allergic to apples -- they irritate my stomach lining, and the irritation/acid production feels like hunger. I suppose that this could be true of other fruit as well.

My solution to this is to not eat raw apples. Baked is fine, even lightly microwaved is fine -- but the raw ones are irritating.

raw apples are the worst for that.... i also find the same thing with carrots. they both irritate my stomach and make me far hungrier. however, i can eat a banana or some grapes and feel full for hours.

funny, I find fruit helps me when I am getting very hungry. Buys me an hour usually near the the end of the day before dinner.
