near goal and nervous

I was wonderin what people think about my question. I've been on WW for 10 months and am 7 lbs away from my goal. While excited, I'm also nervous and also struggling with my new weight and what people have been saying to me. People say I look great, but that makes me think I was invisible they didn't think I looked good before, which kind of makes me mad. I'm the same person, but I'm kind of adjusting to my new body image. More guys are checkin me out, which also makes me feel, I was invisible before. What are your thoughts?

Congrats on all that you have accomplished. It sounds like you'll be at goal in no time. I posed this very question months and months ago - whether people got irked with compliments feeling like you did thinking 'What, I didn't look good before?'

Consider this: since losing weight you've become more confident, you carry yourself differently, perhaps you're dressing better or your clothes fit better, you're more comfortable in your skin, etc. All of that is projected to the outside world and perhaps they are responding to that. And you may be much more aware of people's reactions to you b/c you're feeling so good about yourself. Heck, I have a crappy hair day or decide I hate my clothes and I tend not to even look at people, but if I'm well put together I'm much more likely to notice others noticing me simply b/c I'm more interactive with others. And, we tend not to compliment the status quo, but anything different be it a great new hair cut, a stepped up wardrobe, or weight loss - it catches our attention.

Accept compliments as well intentioned, genuine expressions. Nothing more, nothing less.

Excellent response 9:52.
I had not thought of it that way. But it is true. The more you lose the more confident you are. And you act differently. Thanks for your take on it.

Congrats on your acheivement. Enjoy it but in a manner that doesnt send you down the same track again. All too often, people get to their goal and then let it slip (the yo-yo effect). Remember the hard yards you have done to get there, celebrate and make every day from now on a new and exciting life!
