The Four Day Win

I heard some interesting things about this book. Has anyone read it?

Supposedly one of theories behind this "diet" is that if you substitute a good habit for a bad one and stick to it for 4 days it begins to feel normal.

Yeah I'm about half way through the book and it is thoughtful. I like Martha Beck...she writes the coaching column for the Oprah Mag. Her own personal struggle has been anorexia but I think she has interesting thoughts for anyone who has food issues...or just wants to change behavior.

What do you think OP and anyone else out there? I've wondered if it would make an interesting group focus....seems that there are a number of focus groups based that way...like Judith Beck's work....(don't think they are related....just published a book about the same time).

Group Name - "Four Day Win"

I think the small group sounds great, I just created one called "Four Day Win" if you want to join. I think I am going to head to the bookstore after work and pick up a copy to check it out over the long weekend.

I am becoming more interested in the mindset of people who overeat and binge (which I tend to do on occasion) so I am hoping this might help me pinpoint a reason and help me to find a solution. It will be nice to be in a group with others who were exposed to the same information.

Thanks! I think it will be fun to go through a book with other people here. She's a fun writer too....very readable.

The 4 day win is a brain chemical effect - cant remember if it is the ceritonain level, but basically, once you get past the need for the brain to have it, the chemical release that you get is broken and it makes it easier to avoid cravings and alike.

I always thought it takes 28 days to form a habit. At least that sounds much more realistic to me.
