No, last week of August is the busiest week of the year. The last week of the summer before labor day? Everyone is in the office typing away.

It is quiet and I am sure lots of folks are on vacation because I am seeing all kinds of licence plates on the roads....things will step up in a couple of weeks I bet.

This may not be obvious to people who don't have school age kids.
Families with children are coerced by school schedules and non-school-activity schedules to plan family travel in very specific time windows. There are local variations because not all schools have identical schedules, but by and large, "keep the kids busy in summer" activities like camps leave off 1 to 4 weeks before the start of school, and so that becomes travel vacation time. It's a self-reinforcing pattern. And as someone mentioned, there can be a lot of logistical work nowadays getting kids equipped for school (clothes, possibly dozens of specific supply items).
