Eating Nuts Everyday to lose Weight, Cumin Roasted Almonds Recipe
I am currently reading a book by Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz called "You on a Diet." I thought I could share daily tips for everyone.
Tip: Did you know that it is recommended for people to eat nuts everyday when they are trying to lose weight? "Eating a handful of nuts has been shown to help you stay full" (Roizen & Oz, 2006, pg. 22). Here is a recipe I found for nuts that could be easy snacks to take on the go. I have not tried it yet so everyone will have to let me know how it is. Hope this helps.
Recipe: Cumin-Roasted Almonds
58 calories per tablespoon
Ingredients
2 cups whole blanched almonds
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 300°F.
2. Place almonds in a baking pan; toss with oil, cumin, salt, and pepper. Bake until lightly toasted, about 25 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
Variation: Use curry powder and cayenne pepper in place of cumin and black pepper.
To make ahead: The almonds will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
